Starting Salary:\$25.37\$26.55(depending on experience)

About this Position

The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Rehab Specialist and Building Inspector will serve as the housing rehab specialist, as well as an inspector on unrelated construction projects. Half of their time will be spent working in a project management role on all housing rehab projects and the remainder of their time will be spent doing inspections on new construction projects.

This position will work from 8:00 to 4:30 Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Complete construction inspections for every project

  • Perform site visits and coordinate all CDBG rehab project needs

  • Keep records of all completed inspections (including any deficiencies)

  • Keep records of all site visits related to CDBG projects and provide updates

  • Contact tradespeople regarding questions about inspection results

  • Research codes concerning any deficiencies found during inspections

  • Participate in the code update process

  • Participate in cross-training program with other staff members in each department

  • Meet with officials of other municipalities to provide consistency in code interpretation

  • Document licensing of workers on job sites to ensure everyone is licensed by the state

  • Obtain a Provisional Inspector License from the Oklahoma Construction Industries Board

  • Adhere to the Certification Program (each position must complete the minimum 3 certifications within 2 years)

Qualifications

  • General knowledge equivalent to two (2) years of college

  • 5 years of related experience and/or training

    • Orequivalent combination of education and experience
  • 7 to 11 months of management experience

    • Peopleand/orproject management
  • Experience in commercial and/or residential building construction (preferred)

  • A State of Oklahoma journeymen\'s license in the applicant\'s core area of expertise (preferred)

  • Valid Oklahoma Driver\'s License and a driving record acceptable to the City\'s insurance carrier
