Starting Salary:depends on experience and qualifications

  • Technician I: \$20.18 to \$22.09
  • Technician II: \$21.48 to \$23.51

About this Position

The Traffic Technician I or II assists with day-to-day schedules, maintenance, and repairs of the city\'s traffic signals, street light systems, signs, and pavement markings. They will perform locates to the citys signal systems, repair faults, record data, and drive a city vehicle (bucket trucks) to job locations for repairs. They will also assist in determining what, if any, work needs to be done while at the job location.

While performing their duties, the Traffic Technician will work with voltages as high as 480 vacs, and their work may be on a ladder or climbing poles. The max bucket truck working height could be as high as 50 feet. As a safety/security sensitive position, the new hire is subject to pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, and random drug & alcohol screening.

This position operates on a schedule of 10-hour days for a four-day work week. Employees are subject to callback and overtime as required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and repair streetlights with voltages up to 480 vacs
  • Assist in the repair of traffic signals
  • Repair streetlights while leading a crew
  • Repair faults
  • Oversee and perform locates
  • Perform duties related to sign and pavement marking maintenance
  • Assist in repair of traffic signals(Tech II only)

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Valid Oklahoma Driver\'s License and a driving record acceptable to the City\'s insurance carrier
  • 2 years(Tech I)or 3 years(Tech II)of related experience and/or training
  • Possess the following International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) certifications:
    • Traffic Signal Level I (Field and Construction)
      • Level II is required for the Technician II
    • Roadway Lighting Level I (preferred)
    • Signs and Markings Level I (preferred)
    • Work Zone (preferred)
