About this Position

The Urban Forestry Project Coordinator will plan and administer activities for Edmond ReLeaf, a \$1,000,000 grant project awarded by the USDA Forest Service and funded through the Inflation Reduction Act.

The Edmond ReLeaf project is a 5-year program that aims to enhance tree canopy cover and promote environmental sustainability within disadvantaged communities through planting and distribution of trees, tree maintenance, and education/outreach. Significant effort will be devoted to developing and administering programs and events, conducting outreach activities, and grant reporting and monitoring. This position is part of the Urban Forestry Department, with offices in Downtown Edmond. This position also includes the possibility of some remote work and may require some after-hours and weekend work.

Responsibilities

  • Develop programs related to tree planting, tree maintenance, urban forestry education, and community engagement
  • Implement activities according to the grant timeline
  • Coordinate community outreach for the grant project
  • Procure supplies, develop supplemental educational resources, plan and coordinate logistics, and serve as primary facilitator for programs and events
  • Coordinate tree planting and distribution programs
  • Collaborate with the Grant Administrator to maintain compliance with federal grant programs
  • Coordinate, prepare, and maintain monthly, quarterly, and/or annual reports of grant activities
  • Manage the grant project budget, track expenditures, and prepare documentation for reimbursement requests
  • Perform tree inspections, plan pruning maintenance, and coordinate with property owners to administer the tree maintenance program
  • Collaborate with schools to plan and implement urban forestry educational resources and facilitate projects
  • Administer consultant and contract services for irrigation and tree maintenance, planting, and procurement
  • Plan and host community events

Qualifications

  • General knowledge equivalent to two years of college
    • Bachelor\'s degree in Forestry, Landscape Architecture, Urban Forestry or Horticulture, or equivalent experience (preferred)
  • 2 years of related experience and/or training
    • Orequivalent combination of education and experience
  • 12 to 18 months of management experience
    • Peopleand/orproject management
  • Have (or be able to obtain within one (1) year of employment) certification from the International Society of Arboriculture
  • Valid Oklahoma Driver\'s License and a driving record acceptable to the City\'s insurance carrier

Necessary Skills

  • Basic arboricultural knowledge
  • Ability to identify local tree species
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Advanced skill with Microsoft Word
  • Intermediate skill with database software, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Experience using CityWorks and ArcMap (preferred)
  • Ability to read and follow maps, and use GPS/GIS systems
  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks
  • Availability to occasionally work after-hours and weekends
  • Ability to meet the required physical standards for this position
  • Ability to pass extensi e background process and pre-employment drugand audio screenings
