Amentum Aircraft Worker (Crew Chief): Eglin in Eglin AFB, Florida

Classification Description

Repairs, maintains, and inspects aircraft structures, systems, components, and related equipment under the technical direction of an Aircraft Mechanic, Aircraft Mechanic (Senior) or Lead. Removes and installs aircraft components. Conducts functional tests of repaired components and systems. Special certifications may be required. May be required to adjust, align, and rig aircraft systems. May be required to perform aircraft jacking, lifting, and towing operations. Inspects and identifies aircraft corrosion for prevention and repair. May be required to perform crash recovery duties. Required to perform assigned tasks within your work center that directly supports necessary functions of this job classification.

Specialty Qualifications

Knowledge . Knowledge of the principles applying to aircraft systems, concepts and applications of maintenance directives and data reporting, and using technical data is mandatory. Knowledge of Air Force supply and deficiency reporting procedures and the proper handling, use, and disposal of hazardous waste and materials is mandatory. Knowledge of MIS (CAMS/IMDS) and desktop computer operations and use is mandatory. Must have working knowledge of Air Force supply procedures to look up, place orders, receive and maintain parts and materials to complete assigned work. Education. Completion of high school with courses in mathematics is desirable. Completion of a basic applicable aircraft maintenance course is mandatory. Experience. Qualification as Aircraft Worker is mandatory. A minimum of three years of performing functions, such as installing, inspecting, repairing or overhauling aircraft structures, systems, and components, is mandatory.

Special Certifications and Qualifications required for position (as determined by Program Manager)

Removal and installation aircraft engines F-15C, aircraft mounted accessory drive (AMAD), central gear box (CGB), jet fuel start system (JFS), brakes, wheel assemblies. Document aircraft forms, perform over-G, preflight, post-flight, end-of-runway inspections. Perform launch, recover, combined thru-flight, quick-turn, hourly post-flight, periodic, time replacement items. Perform special inspections, acceptance/transfer, lightning strike, engine bay, intake & exhaust. Tow team member/operator, and moor aircraft. Jack and level aircraft team member, axle jack qualified. Lubricate aircraft, remove and install ballast. Perform operational check of landing gear, brakes and anti-skid systems, operate arresting gear, operate emergency systems, nose wheel steering, and remove and install, selector/shuttle valve and steering unit. Service landing gear components. Operational check bleed air, air conditioning/pressurization/anti-ice/rain removal/fire, and overheat systems, Remove/inspect/install Lox converter. Perform flight control bleed of lateral/longitudinal/directional flight control system, service PC1/PC2/Utility drain, flush, remove install manifolds, lines, accessories, reservoirs, valves, and also refuel/defuel install/remove tanks. Operate, service, install, remove engine starting system components and air induction system. Operate canopy and identify egress system components. Qualified on pre-use inspection of hydraulic test stand, AC units, oil/hydraulic servicing carts, and tank dolly. You must have held an Air Force F-15 Crew Chief AFSC and possess the required qualifications in the attached job description. Must be able to travel in performance of these duties. SECRET CLEARANCE REQUIRED.
