Summary:This position is responsible for all food service activities at the Head Start Center. It involves coordinating and managing the nutrition and food service needs of children and complying with all administrative reporting requirements. The Cook should consistently demonstrate dependability, respect, and excellent kitchen planning and management skills.

Qualifications:The qualifying skills for this position are as follows: high school diploma or GED certification; food handlers card; experience in preparing food; knowledge of operating commercial kitchen equipment; knowledge of food ordering and inventory; knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards to reflect local, state, and federal regulations; knowledge of basic math skills; experience in food service recordkeeping and reporting documentation (preferred); knowledge of cafeteria management and operation (preferred); one (1) year cooking experience for pre-school children (preferred); knowledge of Child and Adult Food Care Program (CACFP) (preferred); ability to quantify recipes; ability to communicate in both English and Spanish; or any equivalent combination of acceptable training and experience as determined by the Executive Director.
