Job Summary and Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Director, performs financial and operational processes related to the Bariatric Center in accordance with the philosophy, goals, and objectives of Del Sol Medical Center

POPULATION SERVED:

Core competencies will be assessed primarily on the following patient population(s) served: Morbid obese adult with all co-morbid illness/conditions, including but not limited to: Cardiac/cardiovascular, metabolic, renal, pulmonary, etc.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Maintains liaison with department director/manager/supervisor and responds to their general questions, assisting where possible.

• Under the direction of the director, gathers all essential data and prepare improvement quality reports and statistical data on a quarterly basis for the department.

• Verifies eligibility of insurance coverage, co-pays, deductibles, etc.

• Coordinates surgical authorizations, financial clearances and surgical schedules.

• Communicates with patients throughout the clearance process to ensure the scheduling of prompt surgical date.

• Coordinates peer-to-peer reviews when necessary and communicates the circumstances to the physicians.

• Completes, executes and performs secretarial tasks, such as order entry, filing and organizing patient charts.

• Communicates, interacts and participates in team work in the clinic.

• Demonstrates an understanding of patient charts, physician orders and nursing orders.

• Promotes and displays a positive customer oriented demeanor to patients, visitors, staff and physicians.

• Maintains the clinic in optimal operating condition by ordering office supplies, cleaning general work stations and stocking of office supplies.

• Maintains updates and completes policies and procedures manuals, department center and regulatory agencies.

• Coordinates and prepares for presentations for internal and external customers.

• Coordinates and participates in-house and outside community education functions

What qualifications you will need:

• High School Graduate / GED

EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED: (list required and preferred separately)

High School diploma

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION (List required and preferred separately)

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED: (list required and preferred separately)

At least 5 years of progressively responsible, complex secretarial experience and college level class work in

business administration or related field; or an equivalent combination of training and experience preferred.

At least 5 years of experience in the communication and understanding of complex payor/health insurance processes

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

Computer literate, specifically on Microsoft, Excel and PowerPoint. Comprehensive knowledge of modem office practices with considerable knowledge of business English spelling.

Ability to act on own initiative and exercise independent, judgment.

Ability to assume responsibility and make sound decisions in accordance with established policies am procedures.

Have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Administration, Medical Staff department managers, staff, arid hospital personnel.
