Position Description:

This position is responsible for the planning and organizing of work of journeyman in an assigned trade, the development of material and labor estimates for proposed work, as well as the assigned trade shop budget, inventories, procedures and policies. Work is primarily evaluated for effective use of resources, accomplishment of assigned projects, grounds and special events, and adherence to trade standards.

Major/Essential Functions:

  • Supervises the Installation, maintenance, operation, construction and repair of building systems, grounds, special events and associated equipment.

  • Works with other trades and maintenance staff to complete maintenance and installation of other building systems.

  • Prepare and submit work documentation, to include work order submission, changes to system (e.g. directories), etc.

  • Install and maintain special systems and equipment such as modular furniture, telecom, kitchen equipment, life safety systems, hoods, etc.

  • Coordinates and assists with the coordination of construction and external service work internally or by others.

  • Responds to work related radio and telephone calls.

  • Contributes with knowledge and skilled labor to construction and renovation projects, grounds and special events of the institution.

  • Responds to emergency calls to correct or remediate the problem.

  • Responsible for keeping all work areas, equipment and tools clean and in excellent working conditions.

  • Performs all preventive maintenance on assigned systems and equipment.

  • Performs other related and various job duties as assigned including but not limited to function set-ups/clean-ups and general services.

  • Must have and maintain valid State of Texas Driver's License and be listed as an approved driver as determined by Risk Management and insurance carrier. Must be able to pass the employee Criminal Background Check.

  • Adhere to all TTUHSCEP policies, procedures and processes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in written and mathematical skills as may be reflected in the completion of high school or equivalent.

  • Three years experience as a licensed journeyman in the assigned trade; or six years experience in designated trade.

  • Job-related vocational training and other education may substitute for required experience on a year-for-year basis.

  • Thorough knowledge of the standard tools, equipment, materials, methods and practices of the assigned trade.
