Position Description:

The Manager for Financial Aid Processing & Services assists the Director of Financial Aid and Military Affiliated Student Services in the execution of daily processes in the following areas: federal and state compliance and awarding, student work-study, student inquiries, computer data setup and retrieval, and federal and state reports. The Manager, will provide compliance guidance to staff, manage Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), package and award aid, conduct the yearly system setup and internal compliance audits, and facilitate the resolution of difficult and /or unusual situations related to student financial aid issues within established timelines.

Major/Essential Functions:

  • Provide management of the University’s student financial assistance programs including, but not limited to, financial aid processing and disbursement.

  • May directly or indirectly oversee Financial Aid Advisors to ensure that student loan packages are within COA and other regulatory guidelines by performing eligibility, COA, Satisfactory Academic Progress reviews, FAFSA verifications, and documentation to clear FAFSA flags, corrections, and monitor subsequent ISIRs for changes.

  • Conducts quarterly internal audits of Financial Aid records, including award records, award letters, and financial aid packages relating to enrollment; assists administration with any compliance reviews.

  • Serves as primary counselor point-of-contact in problem-solving student packaging errors; includes assisting in the resolution of student funding issues.

  • Completes all required reports/audits accurately and timely, assists and suggests standardized policies and procedures, and assures audits are successful by developing quality controls.

  • Supports Financial Aid Advisors in resolving special circumstances and overseeing student schedule changes affecting the cost of attendance. Includes monitoring student schedule changes for proper loan awards and adjustments for continuing students.

  • Assists in the coordination of the certifying process for Veterans Affairs benefits for eligible students.

  • Demonstrate and maintain a current and thorough understanding of the University, as it relates to Admissions, Registrar, Financial aid, enrollment, and support services to ensure students are directed to subject matter experts as appropriate.

  • Update and maintain scholarship resources for students.

  • Provide guidance and support to students and families on navigating the financial aid process, including completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and accessing state-specific financial aid programs.

  • Adhere to all TTUHSCEP policies, procedures, and processes.

  • Personally demonstrate, display, and act in accordance with TTUHSCEP’s values (Service, Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Advancement, and Teamwork). Actively promote and encourage staff across the institution.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a subject area within Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, Student Personnel, Student Development, or other related fields.

  • Five years of relevant experience in administering federal, state, and institutional aid and scholarships.

  • Thorough knowledge of administering rules and regulations governing federal and state aid.

  • Thorough knowledge of the Financial Aid Module within the Banner Student Information System

  • Experience working in a health-related institution or institution with irregular or multiple terms

  • Evidence of strong counseling skills to assist students who have unique needs or exceptional circumstances or need alternative sources of financial support.
