ECONOMY CASH AND CARRY INC Truck Driver in El Paso, Texas
EXPERIENCE:5 years driving experience and 3 years of CDL driver experience. EDUCATION: High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE: Bilingual (English/Spanish) to be able to communicate with customers DRIVER'S LICENSE:Valid Commercial Drivers License and forklift certification.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Drivers must have a clear Moving Vehicle Record.
- Must pass background and drug testing as required by federal and/or state department(s) of transportation regulations.
- Must maintain Medical Card current, according to the Department of Transportation.
DUTIES:
- Inspects vehicles at the start and end of shift to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
- Immediately reports any issues concerning safety of vehicles to immediate supervisor/manager.
- Operates a semi-truck according to applicable state and federal transportation laws.
- Transports loads safely and in a timely manner over required route, obeying all traffic laws and observing all safety regulations.
- Skillfully maneuvers truck and trailer into loading and unloading areas; follows loading crew signals.
- Is certified in using specialized equipment (i.e forklift and/or pallet jack) and assists in loading and unloading of goods and materials when warranted; unloads empty skids and returns all equipment to designated area.
- Maintains signed invoices, shipping bills of lading, and other required paperwork; delivers documentation to shipping office or other company locations as needed.
- Facilitates routine service on trucks, which may include checking oil, water, gasoline, and air; reports maintenance malfunctions to Shipping Supervisor/manager.
- Ensures proper temperatures of refrigerated loads (under 32 degrees Fahrenheit for frozen loads, and 33-38 degrees Fahrenheit for refrigerated)
- Maintains trucks/trailer clean and ready to be used by other drivers.
- Arranges trailers in shipping yards and assists with small movements for optimum loading patterns and space capacity.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management to include but not limited to order selecting and load preparation.
