Axient is seeking a Space Systems Engineer to support our customer in El Segundo, CA.

The Space Sensing Systems Engineer position provides systems and integration engineering for the Space Systems Command (SSC), Space Sensing (SN) Environmental Warning and Tactical ISR Delta program office. The SSC/SN mission is to deliver persistent space sensing for all-domain awareness to deter, defend, and win. Primary mission areas for SSC/SN are resilient Missile Warning/Tracking/Defense space and ground; advanced technology innovation and prototyping, integration of Geostationary Orbit, Medium Earth Orbit and Low Earth Orbit capabilities; Environmental Monitoring, and Persistent Tactical Surveillance.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Experience with military applications of data for operational purposes

• Commercial and/or national data applications to various types of operational uses for US and partner nation’s purposes.

• Familiarity with risk assessments and net assessments for combatant commands.

• Experience with ISR strategies to define production of tailored intelligence, mission planning and targeting, collection management and communication support that provide the “shooter” courses of action and options for responding, developing, and initiating combat actions. Experience with the following areas of T-ISR:

• Process enhancements: The ISR strategy is to incorporate sensor data (full spectrum) into a data repository(ies), make this data available for all communities to use, create/enhance algorithm development to use the intelligence, and provide to warfighter the desired visualization tool/method for Courses of Action (COA) development.

• Data exploitation first philosophy: Essential to this strategy is the paradigm shift from “owning” data sources and repositories to “owning” data exploitation algorithms. This effort is not limited to a single capability area and must be provided across the enterprise.

• Data dissemination/Visualization: How to present will be driven by warfighters now able to handle the “big data” presented.

• Must be able to acquire and maintain the required security clearances.

Skills you will need...

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

• Master’s Degree in Engineering, or related technical field ( Required) . Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for degree requirement.

• Minimum 8+ years of technical/engineering experience with Major Command (MAJCOM) level organizations and processes to include a working level knowledge of requirements generation, Planning Programing Budget and Execution (PPBE) and concept development.

• Experience developing initial test plans for smaller non-Acquisition Category (ACAT) programs getting operational acceptance highly desired .

• Familiarity with Space System Command (Formerly Space and Missile Systems Center) procedures highly desired

• Excellent and detail-oriented organizational, interpersonal, and communications skills highly desired

• Advanced-level competency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook highly desired

Clearance : Top Secret/SCI eligible
