Job Overview:

The psychiatric inpatient 22-bed, Dual Diagnosis Mental Illness (DDMI) unit specializes in treatment of patients with autism and intellectual disabilities and varying medical complexities. Trinitas is proud to be the only hospital in New Jersey with a separate unit to serve this population. Our staff are cross trained to work all the units within our inpatient behavioral health department. The psychiatric inpatient 27-bed, Closed unit is an involuntary unit. Patients are committed to be inpatient for treatment and can have varying medical complexities. Our staff are cross trained to work all the units within our inpatient behavioral health department. The psychiatric inpatient 21-bed, Open unit is a voluntary unit. Patients are able to sign themselves in for treatment and can have varying medical complexities. Our staff are cross trained to work all the units within our inpatient behavioral health department.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Graduate from an accredited school or university

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

  • Proficient computer skills

  • Ability to perform all competencies of the position

Preferred:

  • Med./Surg. Telemetry and/or ER nursing experience

  • Psychiatric-Mental Health (https://www.nursingworld.org/our-certifications/psychiatric-mental-health-nursing-certification/) certifications and/or national nursing certifications

  • Prior experience and psychiatric population

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • NJ License to practice as R.N. in satisfactory standing

  • BLS from the American Heart Association upon hire

  • Active New Jersey Registered Nurse License

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Full-Time

  • Evening Shift

  • 40 hours per week

  • 3p - 11:30p

Essential Functions:

Patient and Family care centered practice and under general supervision, the RN provides and coordinates nursing care by assessing severity of symptoms and providing nursing intervention and treatment as prescribed, documenting interventions and individualized plan of care, educating patients and family ( re: medication and disease process) assuring continuity of care, work with other team members. Provide direct patient care includes providing/ supervising personal care and other ADL s. Participates in performance improvement activities to improve patient safety and quality of care. Promotes a supportive, team-work oriented environment. Fulfills departmental responsibilities consistent with the mission, vision and values of the hospital.
