Manufacturing Excellence Manager

JOB FUNCTIONS and KEY DELIVERABLES: Job functions include but are not limited to the following.

  • Lead a small team of cutting demonstrators/advisors to support executing the functions and deliverables of this description.

  • Establish and implement Die Cutting best practices for the folding carton network within the Graphic Packaging North American plants.

  • Assess capabilities across the network and develop improvement plans. These capability areas include:

  • cutting assets

  • operational workforce and crew knowledge, skill, and experience levels

  • productivity levels, including operation practices, procedures, supporting processes.

  • Develop and deliver customized training IN THE Training Center, on-site and/or off-site, based on the assessments, to all stakeholders in the cutting process (operators, shift supervisors, operations, quality/continuous improvement (CI) resources), as needed and appropriate.

  • Coordinate the development and implementation of written best practices documentation and standard operating procedures in alignment with training and educational objectives.

  • Identify areas for improvement and apply continuous improvement concepts and techniques to increase equipment productivity.

  • Participate and lead process improvement and cost reduction initiatives.

  • Conduct expert troubleshooting to resolve equipment performance issues related to quality, speed, waste and downtime and recommend/implement solutions to sustain improved performance.

  • Provide expert technical and process knowledge during the installation and start-up of new or redeployed cutting assets.

  • As a cutting expert, partner with converting operations team to support new business opportunities and product development projects.

  • Introduce best practice on and with the utilization of Project Dashboard across all plants with approximately 200 die cutting machines in production.

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

  • Prefer bachelor’s degree in Engineering. Employer will accept 7 years of experience in cutting technologies in the packaging industry while performing and operating at a high level.

  • 5 years of experience in cutting technologies in the packaging industry

  • 3 years of experience with specialized cutting tools, Paperboard and Corrugated cardboard

SCHEDULE DEMANDS:

  • General schedule is an 8-hour M-F assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends.

  • Overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail. Estimated travel at 50-75%.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time up to 8-hours.

  • Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs.

  • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.

  • Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.

Pay Range: $117,920.00 - $157,190.00
