Job Summary Establishes lines of communication with victims and witnesses of crime, advising them of their statutory rights, providing services, information, assistance and crisis counseling, keeping them informed of the status of the case and serving as a liaison between the victims/witnesses and other County Attorney Office personnel. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Act as a liaison between victims/witnesses and the prosecuting attorney by sharing information between the two and providing written summaries of the communication. Testifying when required. Inform victims/witnesses of their statutory rights by phone, letter, brochures, and referrals. Coordinate for interpreters and witnesses, travel, meals and necessary clothing when required. Notify victims/witnesses by phone and letter with accurate and current information regarding case status and plea negotiation offers and provide a summary of the communication with the prosecuting attorney. Assist with grant proposals for major funding source for the program. Participate in desk audits and maintain contact with grant partner. Maintain complete logs of contacts with victims and their support networks. Assist with producing quarterly and year end grant reports to State of MIN detailing financial and statistical information. Attend court hearings with victims and witnesses and their support network. Assist the prosecuting attorney with trial preparation of witnesses, sit in on interview of victims and witnesses. Assist victims/witnesses with filling out and submitting court documents, such as an affidavit for restitution, reparations forms, victim impact statements and order for protection applications. Establish working relationships and share information with Health and Human Services, law enforcement, court services and correctional agencies and other victim based agencies with appropriate release of information. Provide victims/witnesses with help in applying for emergency financial assistance. Provide the public with information and community education programs on crime victim issues and the criminal justice system; Arrange and provide transportation and court certified interpreters for victims/witnesses when needed; Remain updated on current offender status, victim related statutes and trainings; seek out and attending trainings and seminars on victim/witness related issues; coordinate student interns and volunteers.
