Position Summary:

Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital is seeking a full time Director of Med/Surg/Peds to lead our Medical/Surgical/Pediatrics team.

Sign-on bonus, relocation and yearly bonus plan available as part of the compensation package.

The successful incumbent will have the ability to assess a variety of complex situation and determine the most effective means to resolve situations. Leadership skills in decision making, problem solving, and interpersonal relations are involved in the daily contracts of working with department directors, physicians, staff, visitors, and vendors. This role is responsible for setting the climate for cooperation between co-workers and shifts for a smooth-running operation. Requires judgment/action that could impact the patient's outcome. This is a working-director position, and you must be able to jump in as a nurse and take care of patients as required by business needs.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing departmental goals, plans, and standard consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
  • Directing and evaluating departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination and complaint management to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
  • Planning and monitoring staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
  • Preparing, monitoring, and evaluating departmental budgets, and ensuring that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. Coordinating and directing internal/externals audits.
  • Creating and fostering and environment that encourages professional growth.
  • Integrating evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.

*Minimum Qualifications: *

  • Education: o Bachelor’s in nursing required, Master’s degree preferred.
  • License/Certification: o Current Nevada RN (or ability to obtain prior to hire) required. o American Heart Association Certifications in ACLS and BLS required within 90 days of hire. o Certification of Completions for both FEMA IS-100.C and FEMA IS-200.C required within 3 months of hire and every three years thereafter. o Certification of Completion for Handle with Care required within 30 days of hire and every year thereafter.
  • Experience: o Must have five years nursing experience within an acute care hospital. o Two years of additional nursing leadership experience required.
  • Skills: o Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. o Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
