Northrop Grumman is currently seeking a Manager Energetics Manufacturing Engineering 3 to support on-site at our Elkton, Maryland location.
The Energetics Manufacturing Manager position will be the responsible individual to ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness for a broad and diverse team of manufacturing, tooling and test engineers and technical writers. The manager will lead and oversee multiple teams responsible for tool design, process design and documentation, test design and execution, as well as lean manufacturing improvements. The chosen candidate must have demonstrated ability in working with cross organizational teams and customers; the ability to set and clearly articulate goals/priorities and successfully communicate them to key staff; strong leadership skills; and a track record of building high-performance teams, with a particular focus on employee development, engagement, inclusion, and retention.
Northrop Grumman Propulsion Systems and Controls (PS&C) facility in Elkton, Maryland began solid-propellant rocket operations in 1948. Today, the Elkton PS&C facility designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion and ordnance systems in programs professionally managed for a wide variety of Government and commercial customers. The facility also serves as the hub for offsite engineering and test facilities in Ronkonkoma, NY and Palm Beach Gardens, FL.
Elkton, Maryland is located on the Upper Chesapeake Bay, midway between Philadelphia and Baltimore. Primary Job responsibilities Include:
Management of Tool Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Test Engineering, Lean/Industrial Engineering, and Publications/Documentation Departments
Responsible for ensuring engineering support for efficient and effective manufacturing execution
Establish, track and execute to overhead budgets and staffing plans
Lead, develop, and implement system, manufacturing, and cross-functional improvement projects
Support site quality and mission assurance objectives, such as timely and effective corrective actions, defect reduction and support of AS9100 audits as necessary
Ensuring team executes projects and tasks to meet needs of internal and external customers
Serve as a positive change agent. Create a compelling work environment for employee engagement and career development
Conducts monthly one-on-one meetings with direct reports to discuss status of individual objectives.
Provide formal feedback and development opportunities to employees, mentoring employees to a successful career path
Supports and leads direct reports in our safety and process improvement culture
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 8 years of experience or a Master of Engineering degree with 6 years of experience
Five or more years in leadership as well as 8 years related experience in manufacturing operations, engineering, and/or program management
Leadership qualities desired with demonstrated success in:
Allocating time and resources supporting team members
Ongoing and immediate feedback
Open sharing of information and knowledge
Encouraging suggestions and ideas from team members
Experience in working with Aerospace specifications and requirements
Strong interpersonal skills with ability to interface with an organization at all levels
Ability to convey clear and concise direction and expectations
Must be a US citizen and able to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in design, manufacturing, and/or process design of energetic materials
Working knowledge of HOPS and DoD 4145
Hazardous processing experience
An active DoD Secret or higher clearance
Salary Range: $172,500 - $258,700
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
