SUMMARY

Administers policies relating to all phases of human resources activity by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Duties may overlap/rotate within the HR team. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Promotes safety awareness, accident prevention, and employee involvement with regard to a safe work environment. Ensures employees understand the safety expectations of the organization.

  • Promotes the company culture, the mission and vision, and the core values of the company.

  • Maintains knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions.

  • Recruits, interviews, tests, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions, collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.

  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.

  • Plans and conducts new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward company goals as needed.

  • Generates and maintains records of personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, attendance, disciplinary notices and terminations.

  • Administers and maintains apprenticeship programs from agreements, evaluation, rate increases, views class schedules & materials, processes training requests/payments, review employee grades, performance.

  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.

  • Administers payroll to ensure compliance with company policies.

  • Administers HRIS System for time and attendance, payroll and employee profiles.

  • Oversees benefits programs such as vacation pay, bereavement leave, sick leave, leave of absence, work clothes and employee assistance program, etc.

  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.

  • Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation, and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.

  • May have supervisory responsibilities for HR Assistant(s).

  • May oversee the scheduling, assignments and daily workflow of subordinate staff in the department.

  • May have HR responsibilities for multiple locations or serve as back-up support role.

  • Organize and participate in community/school events and is event lead for company employee picnic.

    REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate

  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems, ADP preferred.

  • Ability to demonstrate adaptability by effectively managing reasonable last-minute requests and demands.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    Bachelors degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university preferred; and five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. HRIS experience required, preferably with ADP. SHRM certification required, SCP preferred.
