Description We are extending an opportunity for a Purchasing Agent to join our team in the manufacturing industry, located in Elmira, New York. This role offers a contract to hire employment opportunity and involves data entry, vendor communication, and usage of MS Excel. As a Purchasing Agent, you will be entrusted with the task of locating key suppliers, maintaining vendor files, and ensuring accurate inputs of information.

Responsibilities:

• Engage in high volume data entry tasks, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

• Identify and establish contact with key suppliers in relation to supply inquiries.

• Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date vendor files.

• Use MS Excel for various tasks and data management.

• Leverage analytical skills to input accurate information into our systems.

• Communicate effectively with vendors, establishing and maintaining strong relationships.

• Monitor and take appropriate action on customer accounts.

• Resolve customer inquiries in a timely and effective manner.

• Process customer credit applications with accuracy and efficiency. Requirements • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

• Strong data entry skills

• Experience in maintaining vendor files

• Familiarity with the manufacturing industry

• Proven ability in negotiating contracts and prices

• Understanding of supply chain procedures

• Solid judgement along with decision-making skills

• Strong organizational skills

• Ability to work independently and lead projects

• Excellent communication and negotiation skills

• Bachelor's degree in business or related field preferred

• Proven experience as a Purchasing Agent in a similar industry

• Knowledge of market research, data analysis and purchasing best practices

• Working knowledge of MS Office and purchasing software

• Ability to multitask and work under pressure

• Strong problem-solving skills

• Exceptional attention to detail

• Good analytical skills.
