Sutter Health Chair, Sutter Children's Health Service Line in Emeryville, California

Position Overview:

Responsible for leading the strategic, clinical, and programmatic direction of the Children's Health Service Line across Sutter Health. This role is crucial in enhancing patient care and access, developing distinctive programs, optimizing financial and operational performance, and driving a culture of innovation and continuous improvement across all levels of service delivery. Will have direct oversight over service line physician section chiefs and medical directors, working closely with market-level leadership across Sutter Health ensuring excellence in clinical programming. Will serve as the clinical subject matter expert for the Children's Health Service Line. Will lead and act in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and Values of Sutter Health.

This is a hybrid role with both work from home and onsite requirements.

Job Description :

EDUCATION:

  • MD or DO

  • MBA, MPH, or MHA preferred

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:

  • MD-Doctor of Medicine OR DO-Doctor of Osteopathy of California

  • Eligible for permanent, unrestricted medical licensure in California

  • Current Board Certification in an ABP, (American Board of Pediatrics), or relevant specialty

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 8 years of clinical experience, with a minimum of 5 years in leadership roles managing complex teams within a large health system.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Demonstrated leadership in administrative positions in Hospital and / or Medical Group settings. Demonstrated leadership in an Academic Medical Center setting preferred.

  • Demonstrated leadership in administrative positions in Hospital and / or Medical Group settings. Demonstrated leadership in an Academic Medical Center setting preferred.

  • Proven record of recruitment, retention, and development of physician talent.

  • Leadership experience in a large, advanced, complex health system required (e.g., integrated care system with multiple hospitals, a pluralistic medical staff, insurance products).

  • A Proven track record in improving quality and safety in a complex health system is required. Must be a leader champion of quality.

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of current trends in health care, including physician hospital relations, physician practice models, access issues, quality improvement processes, clinical information systems, and the implications of changing health care environment for medical credentialing are essential.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, adept at building relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, including donors, community leaders, and healthcare professionals.

  • A strong understanding of graduate medical education and experience in teaching/training clinical trainees is preferred.

  • National recognition as demonstrated through involvement in academic and professional societies

  • Understanding of the intersection of obstetric, maternal fetal medicine, neonatology, and pediatric services required.

  • Understanding of Children's California Services, ("CCS"), strongly preferred.

Pay Range is $162.24 to $259.59 / hour. Sacramento Valley Pay Pay Range is $142.77 to $228.44 / hour.

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
