Sutter Health Vice President, Cancer Service Line in Emeryville, California

Position Overview:

Accountable for quality, program and service line growth and development, service and physician deployment, integration and consistency, clinical strategy to inform operational budgeting and capital allocation, and access of services for designated geographical area. This role works with the service line steering committee, medical director, Sutter Health leaders, and medical staffs to drive quality and service line development initiatives across the region.

Maintains operational responsibility for specific departments/services at each facility including responsibilities and matrix operating responsibilities. This role partners with medical director to build and manage the activities and resources of assigned departments. Ensures coordinated and harmonious working relationships within and among assigned departments, other hospital departments, medical foundation, hospitals, medical staffs, and the public. This role will have indirect oversight over both Foundation and Hospital based service line leaders. Through this dotted line reporting relationship, will ensure the implementation of the strategic direction for the service line and will drive the execution of their primary responsibilities. Lastly, this role will be responsible for maintaining the appropriate alignment with key Sutter Health system wide initiatives and service line colleagues in the regions/operating units, ensuring that activities within the system, operating unit, and regional strategy are integrated within ambulatory and acute resources.

EDUCATION:

  • Master's Degree preferred

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

  • 18 years recent relevant experience

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Demonstrates clinical proficiency and knowledge to effectively plan and coordinate patient care consistent with applicable standards and regulations.

  • Understanding of clinical operations and workflows, and how operational process/workflow impacts other department operations.

  • Working knowledge and thorough understanding of health care laws, licensing and accreditation requirements, and clinical standards of practice with the ability to interpret and implement applicable requirements to ensure operational compliance.

  • Knowledge of emerging treads and regulatory changes, and how it impacts operations.

  • Business acumen, demonstrating ability to establish goals and standards to meet long and short- term objectives and make sound business decisions.

  • Demonstrates credible leadership presence with the ability to respond to questions with logic, clarity, calmness and authority; and the ability to engage others.

  • Demonstrates familiarity with various methods of care delivery and quality improvement concepts.

  • Demonstrated progressive management ability in providing administrative direction to innovative programs within the healthcare field. Written and verbal communication skills, as well as effective human resource skills are essential.

  • Demonstration of effective management skills, knowledge of hospital administration and agency compliance in patient care delivery systems.

Pay Range is $138.09 to $220.95 / hour

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
