Emory Healthcare/Emory University Professor of Painting, Tenure Track - Open Rank in Emory University, Georgia

Emory University seeks to hire a tenure-track faculty member at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, as part of a multi-year initiative to build our program offerings in the visual arts. This position will teach in Emory’s Visual Arts Program, which is housed in the Department of Film and Media in Emory College of Arts and Sciences. We are searching for an artist to help conceptualize and implement a painting curriculum for undergraduate students. We are particularly interested in an individual whose creative practice and research engages with vital concerns across the College, including but not limited to the other arts, the social and natural sciences, environmental studies, the nature of representation, social justice, and AI. Successful candidates will have an established record or trajectory of excellence in college or university teaching and a record or trajectory for creative work that is nationally and/or internationally recognized via peer-reviewed (juried/curated) exhibitions, awards, and/or publications. Successful Candidates will also have a demonstrated commitment to inclusion and diversity evidenced by interests, accomplishments, initiatives, and training withing the broader theme of diversity and inclusion. The candidate will each teach two courses per semester in areas that complement our current strengths in photography, sculpture, drawing, and printmaking. They will also be invited to develop new courses that reflect their research and practice. Emory College of Arts and Sciences is a liberal arts college within a top-ranked research university located in the southeastern hub of Atlanta, GA. In addition to the Visual Arts Program, Emory’s Department of Film and Media offers a minor and a major in Film and Media, and a media production minor.
