JOB DESCRIPTION: Consumer and Real Estate Loan Officer

DEPARTMENT/DIVISION: Lending

REPORTS TO: President

SUPERVISES: No Supervisory Responsibility

GENERAL FUNCTIONS

ASSURES QUALITY CUSTOMER SERVICE IN A FRIENDLY, ACCURATE AND PROFESSIONAL MANNER.

JOB SUMMARY

Develop and manage consumer and real estate accounts which meet established lending requirements and which provide maximum profitability to the bank with a minimum of risk. Must have lending experience.

DUTIES

  1. Interview loan applicants as well as collect and analyze financial and related data to determine the general creditworthiness of the prospect and merits of the specific loan request.
  2. Establish and negotiate terms under which credit will be extended, which include costs, repayment method and term as well as collateral requirements.
  3. Collect and analyze information, which reflects current creditworthiness of customers and the current merits of existing loans. Obtain information by direct inspection of applicants business and/or collateral, review interim financial reports and visit personally with the customer.
  4. Monitor loan repayment activities and take necessary action to collect from past-due accounts.
  5. Advise customers, where possible, on business management and financial matters.
  6. Contact new prospects and customers to develop new business and cross-sell bank services
  7. Possess organizational skills in their work environment, while maintaining open communication with supporting lending and deposit staff members.
  8. Undertake special projects relating to departmental services.
  9. Ensure the protection of the banks interests in matters of adequate documentation and adherence to bank policy; the various laws and regulations applicable to department operations as well as exercise sound credit decisions.
  10. Handle difficult or complex problems, transactions, computations and servicing of credits of a difficult nature.
  11. Ensure maintenance of good customer relations in cases involving improperly completed legal forms, collection problems, credit decisions and servicing operations in general.
  12. Participate in community organizations and community projects to increase banks visibility and enhance new business opportunities.
  13. Other duties as assigned
