Overview
JOB TITLE: Estimator JOB SUMMARY:The Commercial Site Development Estimator will prepare accurate and competitive estimates for commercial site development projects. This role involves analyzing project plans, specifications, and requirements to calculate costs related to site preparation, earthwork, utilities, drainage, paving, and other site infrastructure scopes of work.
Compensation Range: $90K - $130K (Base Salary)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop detailed cost estimates for commercial site development projects, including earthwork, grading, utilities, drainage, concrete work, asphalt paving, and related scopes.
Review and analyze project drawings, specifications, and requirements to determine scope and necessary estimating components.
Perform comprehensive takeoffs to accurately quantify materials, labor, and equipment needed for the project.
Develop accurate cost forecasts and budgets to complete the scope of work.
Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to identify cost-saving opportunities or alternative solutions.
Assist with value engineering efforts to improve project efficiency and cost effectiveness.
Maintain and update estimating databases, historical cost data, and production rates.
Provide expertise and input during pre-construction planning to ensure seamless transition from estimating to project execution.
Prepare and present detailed proposals and bid packages to leadership teams, clients, or general contractors.
Stay current with industry standards, pricing trends, and local market conditions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education, technical training, and experience.
Minimum 3years’ experienceestimating in commercial site development or heavy civil construction preferred.
Proven knowledge of earthwork, grading, drainage, utilities, concrete flatwork, paving, and associated scopes.
Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and cost analysis principles.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Proficiency in estimating software and tools such asHCSS Heavy Bid, Trimble Business Center, BlueBeam, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Familiarity with scheduling and project management software like Primavera P6 and Viewpoint is a plus.
Ability to meet deadlines and deliver accurate, competitive, and high-quality estimates.
