This position is responsible for ensuring that the processes, features and content provided in electronic health care tools serve the clinical care givers efficiently, effectively and safely. The position participates in the design and maintenance of clinical content including order sets and decision support, by conducting gap analysis to identify opportunities to improve system and user efficiency. The scope includes provider order entry and clinical decision support tools for all venues of care. The position supports content development, maintenance, and optimization; is a clinical resource for IT and evidence-based practice teams; interacts with IT on technical details. The position supports system standardization and optimization and will assist in creating a strategic plan for clinical content management, meeting CMS Conditions of Participation and other regulatory needs of the system. This position will have extensive interaction with medical staff, clinical leadership, corporate departments, and IT teams.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in and provides support to clinical content and decision support governance groups. Assists clinical teams, quality teams, and other customers in identifying and implementing needed evidence based or regulatory changes to content.

  • Participates in the clinical content and decision support life cycle, from development through retirement, including all aspects of clinical integration and continuing optimization, with emphasis on order sets, clinical decision support and provider documentation.

  • Creates systems and processes that support the review and feedback mechanisms for clinical content of order sets, clinical decision support, and provider documentation. Identifies and implements opportunities for process improvement in support of clinical content management.

  • Responsible for keeping current with system changes and enhancements to ensure a thorough knowledge of the clinical information systems as they relate to both physicians and clinical staff.

  • Responsible for internal consistency in content and adherence to policy and procedures for clinical content. Promotes and ensures EHR standardization and consistency across the Enterprise.

  • Collaborates with informatics, IT, and multidisciplinary clinical and operational teams for development and optimization of EHR related tools for clinical caregivers.

  • Project management, including forecasting time and resources, establishing timelines and deliverables, engaging stakeholders, adhering to governance processes, guiding principles and standards, testing, user acceptance, and change control expectations while achieving goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, or related field required.

  • 5 years of relevant clinical experience in a hospital or ambulatory setting.

  • Knowledge of legal, managerial, and organizational principles and standards for health systems is desirable. Familiarity with Health Care systems, processes and applications preferred.

  • Licensed Registered Nurse, APN, PA, or pharmacist required.

  • EPIC certification in primary application is preferred at time of hiring or required within 4 months of employment.

  • Ongoing maintenance of Epic certification(s) required.

  • Demonstrated ability to apply medical and scientific evidence to clinical processes and demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong business or clinical acumen.

  • Strong communication, presentation, interpersonal, and rapport-building skills.

  • Able to get things done and escalate issues to the decision-makers as necessary.

  • Exceptional organizational skills with ability to handle multiple projects, multiple (and sometimes conflicting) priorities and adapt to change.

  • Strong customer service skills required.

  • Strong analytical skills, detail orientation, ability to troubleshoot, be proactive.

  • Demonstrates qualities of assertiveness, a high sense of urgency, initiative (self-starter), effective communication skills including presentation skills, facilitation skills, and a positive attitude.

Pay Range

$40.75 - $59.09 /hour
