Expert in one or more Epic Data Models. Under general direction, the Senior Epic Report Writer works with internal and external customers to understand and analyze requirements and develop Epic business intelligence (BI) reporting solutions using the Epic Cogito and related 3rd party reporting and database tools.. The Senior Epic Report Writer contributes to the design, development, testing, documentation, and maintenance of reporting and analytic solutions that improve patient care, enhance patient engagement, improve operational efficiency, improve CommonSpirit’s financial position, and population health management. The Senior Epic Report Writer may also build new data sets and data structures as required to support business needs and regulatory requirements. The Senior Epic Report Writer will assist with strategies and visualizations that will help the team deliver a more comprehensive solution for the Organization.

Responsibilities

Provides consultation for program design, coding, testing, debugging and documentation. Designs, builds, tests, implements, and supports BI Reporting solutions to meet operational and clinical needs. Analyzes, designs, and makes recommendations to improve existing systems and/or methods, and provide written, detailed reports. Creates thorough system design and build documentation. Collaborates with other analysts, CommonSpiritstaff, vendors, and leadership. Translate high-level business requirements to detailed technical designs/documentation.

  • Leads large/complex projects or initiatives. Supports/maintains day-to-day existing functionality/programs/applications including ancillary systems support.

  • Performs data analysis (reactive) and profiling (proactive) to assess the quality of BI data repositories and solutions.

  • Keeps current with available technology to support and deliver BI solutions.

  • Coordinates all phases of a system optimization or upgrade project and provides production services, such as recommending improvements to strategy, system usage and process through the application of business and technology skill sets. Supports continued system maintenance and optimization.

  • Serves as resource and advocate for assigned user group(s). Assists with a variety of related projects and staff education on an ad hoc basis. Provide solutions for application issues and complex support for trouble-shooting difficult situations. Acts as the group resources for complex issues needing resolution.

  • Mentors other analysts on troubleshooting issues of intermediate to advanced complexity and creating Reporting design solutions.

  • Actively participates in design sessions to validate appropriate acceptance criteria, while ensuring solutions are testable, supportable, and ultimately provide business value.

  • Maintains complete and up-to-date project documentation for all assigned projects. Meeting with department heads on a routine basis to identify and prioritize their needs.

  • Works closely with customers to document requirements and communicate effectively with customers and peers to implement changes.

  • Demonstrates qualities of assertiveness, a high sense of urgency, initiative (self-starter), effective communication skills including presentation skills, facilitation skills, and a positive attitude. Functions well on a team, meets deadlines, is a good problem-solver and has a demonstrable sense of accountability.

  • On-call coverage (after business hours and weekends) is sometimes required, on a rotational basis or as needed, if circumstances warrant.

  • Some travel (both locally and overnight) may be required.

  • Monitor analytics and metrics results.

  • Implement new data analysis and reporting methodologies.

  • Actively addresses issues, taking ownership of projects.

  • Recognizes priorities and urgency.

  • Anticipates and prevents issues.

  • Proactively able to escalate risks/issues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field; 4 years of equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of Bachelor's degree.

  • 5 years Epic report writing experience

  • 5 years of analytics reporting experience.

  • Demonstrates innovative and creative Epic solutions.

  • Works at the highest technical level of all phases of applications, systems analysis and programming activities.

  • Prior experience using report writing tools such as; Crystal Reports, SQL, Chronicles/Reporting. Workbench and/or other SAP/Business Objects reporting tools, understanding of reporting and application databases required.

  • Demonstrates excellence in oral and written communication.

  • Experience working with project life cycle or project management methodologies required.

  • Advanced understanding and comfort leading business and technology partners through a structured deployment and/or implementation life cycle and support model.

  • This includes technical requirement gathering, specification development and creation of design and system test plans.

  • Advanced understanding of technology projects and concepts as they relate to high level business objectives and ability to present those concepts to both IT And non-IT Audiences in concise and easily understandable manner is required.

  • EPIC Certification Required.

  • Future cross certification or proficiency in relevant Epic modules may be requested.

  • Ongoing maintenance of Epic certification(s) required.

  • Strong business or clinical acumen Strong communication, presentation, interpersonal, and rapport-building skills.

  • Able to get things done and escalate issues to the decision-makers as necessary

  • Exceptional organizational skills with ability to handle multiple projects, multiple (and sometimes conflicting) priorities and adapt to change

  • Strong customer service skills required

  • Strong analytical skills, detail orientation, ability to troubleshoot, be proactive.

  • Demonstrates qualities of assertiveness, a high sense of urgency, initiative (selfstarter), effective communication skills including presentation skills, facilitation skills, and a positive attitude.

Pay Range

$40.75 - $59.09 /hour
