The Network Engineer’s role is to provide technology leadership for developing, integrating, and supporting Technology Services. This role will be responsible for specific network related engineering activities specializing in the Local Area Network.

Responsibilities

  • Drive successful solution adoption from technology planning, investment decisions, implementation to ongoing operational support for one or several medium complexity portfolios - specific to network activities

  • Be responsible for improving the availability, security, compliance, interoperability, performance, and technology cost of assignedportfolios/platforms

  • Qualified candidates must possess a combination of business, technical and leadership skills. They must be change advocates and innovators, quick learners, results-oriented, and creators of compelling technology roadmaps. LSAs must seek out and synthesize IT and healthcare trends into multi-year technology investment plans. Mentoring and influencing others in a matrixed team environment is critical to success

  • Create, implement, and support several IT portfolios which accelerate the transformation of Technology Services as a key enabler to Client’s growth strategy and fulfillment of the organization’s mission

  • Be able to travel onsite to facilities to assess facility readiness, assist with project pre-work tasks, perform network implementation work and oversee work being done by 3rd party implementation teams

  • Be able to work in a team environment, taking direction from team leads, to complete projects successfully and on time.

  • Be mentored and coached by Network Architects to build skills and readiness in technology, portfolio, and platform responsibilities

  • Participate in focused proof-of-concept activities for technology assessments, communicate findings, develop portfolio roadmaps, investment prioritization, and successful implementation and adoption

  • Drive adherence to IT strategy and IT standards in design processes for 3rd party services, products acquired, internal services, integrated hosted solutions, and hardware/software vendors

  • Ensure that portfolio performance meets or exceeds operational metrics for scalability, security, compliance, performance and quality in accordance with negotiated service level agreements

  • Create solutions that drive progress toward approved standards and reduce the number of exceptions by proactive roadmap and investment prioritization with business and IT owners

  • Remote eligible.

Qualifications

  • BA or BS in Computer Science, Technology, or Business discipline or equivalent experience is required.

  • 3-7 years of professional experience in an IT technical or infrastructure field is required.

  • Ability to develop and organize written documentation and procedures is required.

  • Ability to exercise good judgement in determining work and problem resolution priorities and approaches

  • Strong conflict resolution skills

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced work environment

  • 5+ years of experience with Cisco Route Switch and Wireless infrastructure.

  • CCNA or CCNP Certification Preferred

  • Experience with datacenter and MDF/IDF closet construction design (cabling racks power cooling)

  • Experience or understanding of Cisco Nexus platform preferred

  • 3-5 years of experience with vendor management

  • Experience with Cisco wireless and moderate understanding of wireless design and coverage preferred

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Healthcare industry experience a plus

  • Experience with multi-vendor management

  • Experience with design, implementation, and troubleshooting of Cisco networks in complex campus environments.

  • The ability to implement complex LAN/WAN/Wireless networks.

  • Understanding of Palo Alto Networks firewalls.

  • Cisco Certifications are preferred

  • Strong time management and multitasking skills

  • Candidates must possess a combination of business, technical and leadership skills.

  • Automation for configuration building, script building. The ability to develop an automation process that can be leveraged by the entire team.

  • Also the ability to be able to train the team on how to use it. Experience with ansible/puppet/chef/python/VBA/Google App Script.

  • The ability to write technical scripts, SOP's, and any other documents deemed relevant to achieving success.

  • An understanding of Project Management methodologies.

  • A good understanding of cable plant infrastructure (fiber, copper), IDF/MDF/Data Center room designs. This would include determining room layout, understanding of power and cooling requirements.Demonstrate ability to work on complex networks, including the following protocols/topologies:

Pay Range

$37.05 - $53.72 /hour
