Amentum Supervising Discipline Engineer 2 in Englewood, Colorado

Amentum is seeking a Mechanical Supervising Discipline Engineer to join a team of engineering and design personnel to support projects in our Englewood, CO office. Although the position is based out of our Colorado office, Amentum is open to this position being filled remotely with the right candidate that has excellent communication and time management skills.

This position serves as a company engineering representative at a base or remote locations. Performs engineering services such as engineering studies and analysis, technology planning, systems architecture development and integration, testing and evaluation, systems operations, construction, control of systems and components, integrated logistics support, modeling and simulation, configuration management, and systems acquisition and life-cycle management. Advises customer and contractor personnel of company requirements for products and services, support equipment and electronic equipment installations.

Responsible for managing the discipline engineering to meet customer and project requirements regarding scope, scheduling and budgets. Provides a liaison between discipline engineers and Project Engineering Managers and between Project Managers, Chief Discipline Engineers and Principal Engineers with respect to project scope, budget, scheduling and overall engineering and design requirements and employee administration.

Responsibilities:

1) Coordinate the discipline's engineering with that of other disciplines.

2) Maintain records, files and other documents pertaining to the discipline.

3) Assume responsibility for ensuring that engineering documents comply with applicable state laws/regulations, including affixing registered engineer seal when required.

4) Assign preparers and checkers for discipline specifications and coordinates review of external specifications.

5) Establish schedules and budgets to meet project requirements and obtains approval.

6) Maintain technical coordination with the Principal Engineer to ensure adherence to industry codes, regulatory requirements and sound engineering practices.

7)Direct the preparation and submits periodic reports and forecasts on the status of the discipline.

8)Comply with state requirements for continuing education, maintains and obtains licenses as requested.

9)Continually upgrade technical knowledge and capabilities and pursues additional coursework and training.

10)Advises the Project Engineering Manager regarding status of assignment(s) with respect to schedule, budgets, delays and adverse problems

11)Work closely with Chief Discipline Engineers, Principal Engineers and Project Engineering Managers on employees_ evaluations and promotions and the overall technical improvement of the group.

12)Lead the development of manpower, man-hour, and labor cost requirements for a project and can monitor the effect of these on the budget.

13) Able to lead all aspects of estimating for a discipline.

14) Responsible for performance management and mentoring.

15) Provide assistance to projects to address technical issues related to process improvement.

16) Assist in training and mentoring/coaching other team members.

17) Assist in the development of training programs within area of technical expertise and conducts training sessions as appropriate.

18) Create positive working relationships with peer leaders.

19) Create productive relationships with organizations both within and external to Engineering.

20) Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Sciences degree in Mechanical Engineering required from an ABET Accredited Program.

  • Minimum of 12+ years of relevant experience with Bachelor's degree; 8+ years relevant experience with Masters degree

  • Professional Engineering License required.

  • Intermediate level of knowledge within a specific discipline and an understanding of other disciplines.

  • Experience in Plant design engineering in a highly regulated environment is essential.

  • Good oral and written communication skills; working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications; organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required.

  • Client projects for this position require US Citizenship.

  • Demonstrated capability in the design of custom equipment and/or containment systems, development of design documentation including fabrication drawings, engineering analyses, strength of materials calculations, fabrication and procurement specifications and a basic knowledge in the selection of materials.

  • Working knowledge of MS Office products (Word, Excel).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiar with specifications and data sheets for large complex process facilities.

  • Experience with Pumps, Heat Exchangers, Vessels a plus

  • High temperature equipment design a plus

  • Experience with sizing HVAC equipment a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $140K hr. - $160K Annually (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
