Who will you be working with?

In this role, you will collaborate with a global cross-functional team.

How will you make a difference?

This position provides a unique opportunity to interact with all locomotive subsystems with control content while developing the Next Gen Locomotive Control Architecture that modernizes the electronics, software, applications, and network communication, intending to improve software quality, engineering productivity, meeting cyber security expectations, all while addressing the latest customer needs.

What do we want to know about you?

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronics with Control Systems Background.

  • Minimum of 8+ yrs of hands-on Matlab/Simulink Control Application software development.

  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including but not limited to requirements management, source control management, defect tracking, and testing.

  • Scripting knowledge using Matlab or Python.

  • Experience in communication protocols such as TCP/IP, Serial Protocols etc.

  • Ability and willingness to travel as required (<10%).

What will your typical day look like?

  • Lead and Design Matlab/Simulink control applications using MBSE techniques for functions such as ePowerTrain, Battery Charger Systems, and Torque Management for a Battery Electric or Diesel Locomotive.

  • Contribute to the Application architecture definition and implementation of the same in the control software.

  • Prepare content and conduct design reviews for the different control functions.

  • Develop and test Matlab/Simulink models, in accordance with input requirements.

  • Contribute to the development of tools and methodologies using MATLAB/Python to support development activities.

  • Lead issue resolution which may arise within the key functions and ensure robust launch of products.

  • Define Application requirements and allocate to applications to meet system-level functional requirements.

  • Define interfaces among control applications within software.

  • Support integration and testing activities on various platforms: software in the loop, hardware in the loop, and actual target/production system.

  • Ensure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.

  • Experience in developing and testing embedded software using MBSE techniques.

  • Experience with any Enterprise Architecture tools such as Cameo Enterprise Architecture and/or Rational Rhapsody software.

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.
