Description

JOB SUMMARY: We are seeking an experienced Behavioral Health Director to facilitate and coordinate services within our behavioral health department. The Behavioral Health Director will provide assessment, triage, and case management for students, faculty, and staff. In addition, the Director provides weekly updates for the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT). The ideal candidate should have a strong background in behavioral health management, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for improving the quality of mental health services.

CHARACTERISTIC JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Assists with creating a vision for faculty development within the context of the Behavioral Health department;

  • Conducts assessments for students, faculty and staff who experience psychological or personal life dysfunction, or academic challenges;

  • Where necessary, facilitates the referral process to a community treatment provider for students, faculty and staff;

  • Case manages students, faculty, and staff who are enrolled in a treatment modality or agree to behavioral monitoring for sobriety. May occasionally receive after-hours messages in the event of behavioral health emergencies, in consultation with other members of the Behavioral Intervention Team;

  • Provides weekly updates for the Behavioral Intervention Team committee meetings, maintains and distributes minutes of meetings;

  • Maintains a working relationship with community mental health agencies, private psychiatry, substance abuse agencies, and other social service agencies;

  • Presents Behavioral Health services at student orientation;

  • Provides consultation to faculty regarding student concerns;

  • Processes referrals to local resources for evaluation and manages potential monitoring through those agencies;

  • Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations;

  • Attends regularly scheduled meetings with administrative staff/supervisor;

  • Participates in other programming as requested and expected (student applicant interviewing, etc.);

  • Faculty member will contribute and be responsible for overall student success, including, but not limited to, advising and student outcomes;

  • Faculty member will contribute directly to the Mission of LECOM embodying the essence of Osteopathic Principles and Practices by assisting with Institutional fundraising and participating in the LECOM Scholarship Auction;

  • Faculty member will participate in scholarly activity so to enrich and broaden the student learning experience;

  • Faculty member will commit to being a representative of LECOM by being actively involved in the community, including, but not limited to, serving on Boards, participating in community fundraisers and overall outreach; and

  • Be able to accept other duties needed/assigned for the department needs.

Minimum Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS : Must possess required knowledge and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :Education and experience equivalent to: Master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field and/or LCSW or LPC certification. Additionally, the successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Previous experience of three years in a leadership role within a behavioral health setting

  • Excellent leadership and management skills

  • Strong understanding of behavioral health treatment modalities and best practices

  • Knowledge of state and federal behavioral health regulations

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to handle stressful situations and make informed decisions
