UPMC Behavioral Health Therapist I (Substance Use Disorder) in Erie, Pennsylvania

The Behavioral Health Therapist will provide clinical treatment services to individuals who have substance use disorders and meet criteria for outpatient and intensive outpatient treatment services. Substance Use Therapists will have the potential to deliver co-located services including outpatient therapy services in the medical setting, complete intake/assessments, screen for withdrawal, complete referrals to appropriate levels of care, and provide treatment planning, and counseling to patients referred to this setting, and collaborate in a multidisciplinary team.

The ideal candidate will have prior substance use disorder experience, but not required. Must have a completed master’s degree in a license eligible field. Licensure supervision is provided at no cost. This is a Monday through Friday daylight position.

Sign-On Bonus Details

· 1-year work commitment - $5,000

· 2-year work commitment - $7,000

· 3-year work commitment -$10,000

Responsibilities:

  • Therapy & Education:

  • Provide individual and group therapy to patients in various settings (home, school, community, etc). Educate patients on recovery.

  • Use evidence-based treatment methods.

  • Assessments & Treatment Planning:

  • Conduct assessments for new patients and create comprehensive treatment plans.

  • Participate in treatment team meetings, review patient treatment plans, and make recommendations.

  • Assess changing patient needs and adjust treatment plans accordingly.

  • Develop and implement new treatment approaches.

  • Referrals:

  • Discuss additional services and refer patients as needed.

  • Record Keeping & Documentation:

  • Maintain daily records of clinical activity including assessments, treatment sessions, and other patient-related work.

  • Manage administrative work related to patient care.

  • Quality Assurance:

  • Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities.

  • Participate in the mentoring of student interns.

  • Master's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Education in school counseling, or related field required. (Successfully completed the educational requirements as defined in practicing state's code)

  • One year of clinical experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of psychiatric evaluation and assessment process, as well as application of current version of the DSM preferred.

  • Experience in diagnosing and treating behavioral and psychiatric conditions preferred.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

Passed the examination required by 49.11. relating to licensure examinationMust sign a license agreement and be actively working to obtain the Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Work (LCSW), or Licensed Family Marriage Therapist (LMFT) within 30 months of hire.

  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal

  • Act 33 with renewal
