Gannon University Online Engagement Coordinator in Erie, Pennsylvania

  1. Creates and manages a process for maintaining individual student education matrices to track online program course completion.
  2. Collaborates with online program directors to create online schedules based on student enrollment projections.
  3. Utilizes intrusive advising processes to confirm that online students are present and engaged in online courses, that there is a high level of faculty-to-student interaction, and that each student receives individual attention as warranted to promote academic integrity, student satisfaction and student success.
  4. Registers Gannon's online student population for each seven week session.
  5. Manages the student engagement reporting process on a weekly basis throughout each semester for utilization by the Director of Distance Education and online Program Directors.
  6. Establishes a meaningful advisory relationship with the online student population and serves as a primary point of contact for online student questions.
  7. Coordinates online service delivery to any functional area (one or more) within the University such as retention, counseling, advising, testing, engagement, welcome, wellness, and student development.
  8. Implements and manages a process for academic programs to track the utilization of textbooks for online courses.
  9. Facilitates new online student orientation for newly accepted online students.
  10. Schedules and proctors distance education student examinations taken on Gannon's Erie campus.
  11. Provides regular and consistent outreach to students who are referred through the Early Alert System and other identified at-risk students.
  12. Proactively serves as the front-line resource for students in need of assistance in solving academic, social, financial and other concerns that are potential impediments to student success and persistence.
  13. Contacts students on academic action and assists them in collaboration with their academic advisor to develop a plan for returning to good academic standing.
  14. Creates new and innovative online resources for students, faculty advisors and staff.
  15. Serves on University Committees as appropriate.
  16. Performs other duties as assigned within the scope and responsibility and requirements of the position.

     

Required Qualifications :

Education: Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited postsecondary institution required; a master's degree preferred. Experience: Must be able to exercise considerable initiative, independent judgment and discretion in order to effectively communicate numerous complex university requirements and procedures to Gannon's online student population. Strong computer skills required and a working knowledge of electronic spreadsheets, databases, word processor, and the Internet required. Minimum requirements include proficiency in MS Office Suite products; experience with principles and procedures of student record keeping; two or more years working in higher education; previous work experience coordinating students and academic programs; experience in any Student Information System. Previous experience with a Learning Management System (Desire2Learn, Blackboard, Canvas, etc.), and experience conducting webinars, workshops, and online demonstrations are preferred.
