UPMC Pharmacist in Erie, Pennsylvania
Join the UPMC Hamot Pharmacy team in Erie, PA, as a full-time Pharmacist offering variable day and evening shifts (7AM-3:30PM and 12:30PM-9PM) with every third weekend and 2-3 holidays annually. We’re looking for dynamic candidates who excel in written and verbal communication and can integrate operational, clinical, and educational responsibilities. Ideal applicants will have a solid understanding of hospital and outpatient clinic operations, and experience collaborating with medical, nursing, pharmacy staff, residents, and medical students. In this role, there is the opportunity to -
Interpret and evaluate physician orders to prepare and dispense appropriate medication dosages in compliance with regulatory standards.
Identify and report suspected adverse drug reactions promptly to ensure patient safety.
Sustain the formulary by minimizing non-formulary procurements and promoting rational drug therapy choices.
Review and screen patient medication records for allergies, drug interactions, and therapeutic duplications.
Organize daily operational duties and supervise pharmacy technicians, aides, and interns to ensure efficient workflow.
Adhere to regulatory requirements and professional standards to maintain high-quality pharmaceutical care.
Communicate with physicians and nurses to clarify unclear, illegible, or incomplete medication orders.
Provide drug information and educational programs to healthcare professionals and pharmacy students.
Utilize computer systems and technologies to enhance the provision of pharmaceutical care.
Prepare and dispense intravenous admixtures using aseptic technique in sterile environments.
Required
Graduate of an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy
B.S in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree
Current licensure as a Pharmacist in practicing state
Preferred
Previous pharmacist experience
Residency-trained
Board-certified
