Cartamundi Buyer/Planner- Hybrid in Erlanger, Kentucky

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Buyer/Planner to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the timely procurement of materials and services to support our production schedule. You will work closely with suppliers to negotiate pricing and delivery terms and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure inventory levels are optimized. This position requires strong negotiation skills and proficiency in materials management, with a focus on optimizing procurement processes to support our operational goals.

What you’ll do as a Buyer/Planner :

  • Utilize MRP, customer POS data, and internal forecasts to plan Raw Material & Finished Goods purchases.

  • Maintain inventory on all products to support the forecasted demand/production.

  • Control total inventory amount to align with department objectives for dollar thresholds, and average days on hand targets.

  • Report on excess and obsolete inventory on a quarterly basis.

  • Proactively manage all open purchase orders with suppliers, ensuring the scheduled ship dates are met.

  • Process MRO requests for the Operations team.

  • Monitor supplier performance and communicate areas for improvement to suppliers.

  • Performs such individual assignments as manager may direct.

  • Negotiate contracts and/or pricing with vendors.

  • Communicate with Accounts Payable as needed and resolve any issues in a timely fashion.

  • Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Corporation and the community; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.

  • Work with internal customers to understand the manufacturing process, and this roles responsibility in ensuring its success.

  • Address and resolve incoming material issues with suppliers.

  • Identify and implement LEAN initiatives to drive savings.

    We’re looking for a Buyer/Planner with:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.

  • 1-3 years purchasing experience.

  • Proven experience in inventory control and materials management within a manufacturing or retail environment.

  • Strong knowledge of supply chain processes, sourcing strategies, and negotiation techniques.

  • Experience with SAP ERP systems is a plus.

  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.

  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with suppliers and internal teams.

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

  • A proactive attitude towards problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives

    Physical requirements and working conditions:

Our manufacturing Plant is comprised of enclosed office and manufacturing space. This position requires the ability to:

  • Move throughout the entire facility to attend to various issues

  • Work effectively in teams across functional groups with strong communication skills and the ability to lead.

  • Perform sedentary work on various computer systems.

  • This Buyer/Planner position is located on-site in our Erlanger facility.
