We are currently seeking talented individuals for our Dispatch Supervisor position!

Here is some of what you’ll do…

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Dispatch Supervisor ensures the prompt, efficient and profitable transportation and delivery of all rental equipment, working with the Drivers, Rental Coordinators, Rental Managers, and other departments as necessary. Communicates and works closely with all other Hawthorne divisions and departments to ensure highest level of customer service possible.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for Central Dispatch Profit and Loss Statement.

  • Responsible for keeping the use and cost of outside vendors below company provided standards by maximizing use of company-owned assets and personnel.

  • Manages and performs performance evaluations for Haul Truck Drivers.

  • Responsible for any discipline and write ups of direct reports.

  • Negotiates hauling rates with vendors.

  • Coordinates routing of shipments and use of company assets to meet customer demands.

  • Manages and maintains drivers’ hours of service.

  • Determines order of priority of deliveries.

  • Maintains best practices including cost-effective shipping methods to ensure on-time deliveries and pick-ups are completed withing company specified timelines and standards.

  • Assesses and determines proper utilization of all trucks and other transportation equipment assigned to the department.

  • Ensures compliance for all inspections and BIT’s for delivery fleet.

  • Oversees all delivery and transportation related bills.

  • Assist with deliveries when needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Must have at least 2 years’ experience in the equipment rental industry, preferably as a foreman, mechanic, truck driver, or sales representative. Military experience in a similar occupational specialty would meet this requirement.

  • Some advanced education in technical school, specialized business school, military training, or equivalent in practical and on the job training preferred.

  • Possess broad and in-depth knowledge of trucking and transportation of heavy equipment.

  • Able to demonstrate high proficiency in computer applications.

  • Excellent communication ability and high level of customer relation skills.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Walking and moving about on foot often through uneven terrain.

  • Handling: Works with hands.

  • Lifting: Raises or lowers miscellaneous equipment parts, small tools, batteries, and tampers. May lift up to 60 lbs. with frequent exertion.

  • Reaching: Extends hands and arms in any direction.

  • Stooping: Bends body downward and forward by bending at knees or waist.

  • Standing: Remains in standing position if required to perform various functions of the job.

  • Climbing: In and out of equipment.

  • Vision: Reads rental documents, invoices and bills.

  • Talking: Communicates via telecommunications and in person.

  • Sitting: Sits in equipment and in vehicles.

    ENVIRONMENTAL:

  • Noise: Works in conditions with constant or intermittent noise.

  • Temp/Weather: Works in an office environment outside with variations of temperature and weather.

  • Exposure: Foul odors, fumes and harsh substances.
