WATTS Software Engineer in Escondido, California

Perform software development activities including software requirements and documentation, writing product-level software, writing test tools, testing software, and performing code reviews.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Develop software for various Sentinel products and tools.

  • Develop software requirements based on product needs.

  • Develop test plans.

  • Creates scalable, distributed services that run in residential, commercial and hybrid cloud infrastructures.

  • Designs and develops user interfaces with standardization and consistency over a range of product offerings.

  • Defines software specifications by analyzing user requirements.

  • Creates software development process documentation to include architectural requirements, design, interface specifications and verification steps.

  • Performs unit testing, black box testing, white box testing, and automated testing.

  • Creates and maintains programming and engineering details including project software specifications and project plans.

  • Works closely with software engineers, hardware engineers, and IT professionals to develop integrated IoT solutions.

  • Compiles and analyzes data; prepares information reports. Provides input into technical decisions.​

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficient in embedded C/C++, Python, or JavaScript.

  • Skilled in UI and GUI development.

  • Knowledgeable in electronics and test equipment.

  • Familiar with IoT concepts and frameworks.

  • Strong grasp of software development principles and agile methodologies.

  • Minimum two years of relevant engineering experience.

  • Experience with server/database architecture and network/device communication protocols.

  • Solid understanding of internet infrastructure and network programming.

  • Proficient with management tools like SharePoint and MS Project.

  • Innovative thinker with strong organizational skills.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Collaborative and able to document activities effectively.

  • Capable of independent problem-solving and team collaboration.

  • Experience in data and network security.

  • Proficient in programming embedded microcontrollers (MCU).

  • Experienced with multiple IDEs, automation, and robotics programming.

  • Familiar with data mining, machine learning, analytics, and web/mobile UI/UX design.

Salary Range: $80K to $85K

Actual compensation within that range will depend upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications, and applicable laws.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Works in an office/laboratory environment.

  • Ability to move throughout the manufacturing and office areas.

  • Alternates between sitting, standing, lifting of items and moving within the work area.

  • Must be able to manipulate equipment used in performance of tasks.

  • Other demands include but not limited to oral, written, and presentation/communications skills.
