    ShelterCare's Short Term Housing Program of Eugene, OR is hiring a full-time Shelter Invention Specialist. This position is responsible for supporting the program participants of the shelter units located in the Short Term Housing Program and helps to ensure that all the programs activities, policies and procedures meet the agency's values and mission.     The Shelter Intervention Specialist is a non-exempt position with a starting wage of $21.11 - $22.00 per hour; based on qualifications.

    ABOUT SHELTERCARE

    ShelterCare is a social services agency that is directed by a board of community volunteers . We have multiple programs in the Eugene/Springfield area. We offer a range of housing solutions combined with wraparound services for families and community members who are experiencing homelessness, on the verge of becoming homeless and have a serious mental illness. Because of the variety of services we offer, we are able to help many people in our community.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Required

    A degree in social work or a related field OR the equivalence in years of experience; 1-3 years of experience in working with people who have been homeless and/or have mental health needs; must have knowledge of mental health, substance use disorder and homelessness needs and services; and experience providing interventions to this population.

    Essential Skills

    Crisis de-escalation; effective communication; negotiation and collaboration; scheduling and time management; leadership; risk management; critical thinking and problem solving; use of technology for email, spreadsheets and documents; be able to handle confidential material; organize and prioritize work.

    Physical Requirements :

    Work involves sitting most of the work day at least 50% of the time; repetitive motion: substantial repetitive movements of the wrists, hands and/or fingers (computer use.) Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading, primarily on a computer monitor. Occasional travel required for offsite meetings and sessions 50% of the time.
