FFP Production Blending Operator - 3rd shift in Eustis, Florida

JOB SUMMARY: Production Operators’ function will be to assist in the blending, packaging and labeling of finished goods while following GMP’s. This will include the ability to read from product formula cards, verify and record lot numbers and product codes, measure ingredient weights by using a scale and adding products into tanks. Production checklists are to be followed and filled out for each product completely. Operators will be responsible for taking samples of finished blends for QA analysis and recording data onto formula cards. After QA has approved the blend is correct, the operator will package off the material into approved vessels again using a scale and assuring proper weight is added to each vessel. The operator will also load pallets with finished product and wrap and label each pallet. All material will be stored in appropriate storage areas. Each time a blend is made the operator will be responsible for sanitizing the tank and accessories used in packing the material off into various vessels. Production operators will be responsible for using chemicals during cleaning processes and will be expected to use appropriate PPE both while handling chemicals and all other process areas of the position. Sanitation guidelines and checks are required throughout the process and must be followed closely. Operators should report to management any unsafe condition or any process that would require assistance from another employee. This will require sustained periods of times lifting and dumping bags of material up to 60 pounds at times. Operators will be on their feet for extended periods of time in a non-temperature-controlled environment that can be noisy, hot, and wet. Must be able to climb ladders, bend, squat, push and pull material regularly, use limited hand tools, operate clamps, and appropriately use gaskets and other small process type of utensils. The position is based in a manufacturing environment, which may involve exposure to chemicals and varying temperatures. Position is Third shift 6pm - 6am. Ability to work overtime, off shift, and weekends as needed.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operates production machinery in accordance with prints and specifications

  • Maintains production logs and records

  • Assist supervisor to ensure the department complies with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control (HACCP) and Safe Quality Foods (SQF)

  • Works safely and ensures the department complies with all safety rules

  • Carry out microbial analysis according to batch records using good sterile technique

  • Ongoing utilization and monitoring of equipment and process control systems to ensure parameters are within specified operating ranges

  • Performs minor mechanical and instrumentation troubleshooting; takes appropriate corrective action as needed.

  • Complete daily batch records and enter fermentation data into databases

  • Contacts supervisor, QC or R&D for guidance in the event of unplanned deviations; follows guidance and direction accordingly

  • Complete basic lab procedures ensuring accuracy and validity of results. Assist with general laboratory procedures including but not limited to preparation of solvents, buffers, resins, reagent solutions, media prep; measuring and dispensing of solid and liquid chemicals and raw materials

  • Cleaning and sterilization of equipment, instruments, materials and processing areas

  • Executes on various projects developed by R&D

  • Performs housekeeping tasks as assigned per GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)

  • Other duties as assigned or required

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • At least one year of related experience required

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, set priorities, and make decisions with general guidance and supervision

  • Working knowledge, skills, and ability to understand, interpret and assess FDA, Food and Plant Safety, product, process and quality-related requirements and to ensure adherence to all HACCP protocols, GMPs and SOPs

  • Relevant knowledge of equipment, process and production capabilities

  • Experience using ERP / MES / MRP / Shop Manufacturing Systems a plus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Repetitive lifting 50 to 60 pounds

  • Climbing stairs and ladders

  • Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect product
