Quality Control Manager opportunity at Triad Fabricators

Triad Fabricators, based in Evansville, Indiana, was formed by consolidating three legacy fabrication shops; Traylor Bros. (founded in 1946), Sterling Industrial (founded in 1982), and Traylor Industrial (founded in 1984).

Our focus is fabrication, which is what we do best, but as part of the Traylor Construction Group, we have the resources to see any project through from concept to completion. With both domestic and international experience, Triad has proven ability on a global scale.

Position Summary:

This position is accountable for planning, developing, implementing and maintaining the Quality Plan, QA/QC project management and supporting technical staff.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Lead quality staff to perform required inspection and testing of fabricated products both on-site and at subcontractor sites

  • Manage the quality organization and quality management system to control the quality of processes and fabricated products

  • Review specifications for products and fabrication processes, and set and monitor quality standards

  • Assure that all materials, workmanship, and construction are in full compliance with the contract plans and specifications

  • Develop quality reports, post-construction reports, and detailed progress reports

  • Maintain records relating to inspection and testing data, and applied quality standards

  • Develop practices to monitor and control quality; however, other factors must be considered, such as effectiveness, cost, and productivity

  • Apply substantive expertise during the pre-bid, construction, and post-construction phases of a project by working with estimating, project management, and production teams to ensure quality standards and project profitability are achieved

  • Identify and document non-confirming products and work with production to address issues by ensuring that all defective work or materials are corrected or removed until made compliant. Investigate the root causes of defects

  • Develop working relationships with customers, both internal and external, to ensure customer needs are addressed

  • Write training material and conduct training sessions on quality standards and procedures

  • Assume additional responsibilities as directed by division and corporate management. Travel as required to attend, but not limited to, meetings, site visits, training, etc.

    Skills and Abilities

  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills; attention to detail a must

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills; including effective listening skills

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications

  • Working knowledge of computers and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel, and Procore

    Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or related field required

  • 5 years of experience as a Quality Manager required

  • 5 years of experience working on USACE or similar projects is preferred

  • 5 years of AWS D1.5/D1.5M experience, working for USACE or similar projects preferred

  • American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)

  • American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) NDT Level III required

    Physical Demands

  • Travel will be required to attend training and meeting

  • Ability to sit or stand for an entire shift

  • Occasionally required to stoop, bend, walk, crouch, and climb

  • Ability to lift, frequently, at least 50 pounds

  • Ability to speak, write, and understand English clearly
