The Consumer Packaging-North America Division has an immediate need for a Technical Development Engineer. As a member of the Bottles Product Development team, this role will have responsibility for all technical aspects of preparing a technical development plan, as well as, managing projects related to continuous improvement, process optimization, and cost savings. This position will work closely with Manufacturing Operations, Process Engineering, Tooling, Design Engineers, Project Managers, R&D, and Product Line Management to develop technical plans for next generation products and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate the Technical Development Plan that outlines all the details necessary for the Product Line Manager to respond to an RFQ or create a Business Case, including all cost inputs, capital equipment costs, and evaluation of the technologies required for the development and manufacturing.

  2. Lead cross-functional teams consisting of representatives from operations, tooling, process engineering, machine, automation, etc., to find ways to optimize processes and improve operational efficiencies.

  3. Responsible for oversight of any engineering changes or product design changes related to optimizing the manufacturing process.

  4. Lead technical communication with both vendors and internal stakeholders.

  5. Support Customers, Manufacturing and Quality as the technical expert on product maintenance and continuous improvement opportunities.

  6. Responsible for adherence to Berry, industry, and/or regulatory procedures as well as Management of Change, Stage Gate, and ISO processes.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or equivalent experience.

  2. 5+ years relevant experience related to product development, manufacturing, and/or molding related to bottles. Experience in Extrusion Blow Molding, Stretch Blow Molding, Reheat Stretch Blow Molding, and decoration is beneficial.

  3. Ability to travel as needed

  4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  5. Self-motivated and assertive individual

  6. Ability to prioritize, multi-task, be a proactive thinker, and be results-oriented

  7. Project Management experience a plus

  8. Strong organizational skills with proven ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously

  9. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required for data driven decisions
