About LME Systems Engineering

The Large Military Engines Systems Engineering team directly impacts the GE Aerospace mission by driving the holistic strategic plan for the Engine Level Model including closure on safety issues, engine configuration, airframe integration requirements aligned to customer airworthiness qualification, maintenance plan, field investigation and test objectives, sustaining product & growth strategies, while inventing next generation engine platforms through sustainable technology insertions.

About this Position

In this Evendale, OH-based role you will not only provide comprehensive systems level support to Large Military Engines Systems Team for developing new applications of our existing F110 engine family, you will also support GE Edison Works and the development of new advanced derivatives of our fielded engines. The unique nature of this role will also provide you the opportunity to lead and work with GE's testing organization and develop an understanding of the requirements and skills needed to manage engine testing.

Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Working with the Program Systems teams and Customers in order to keep consistency between the turbomachinery team and the advanced design teams.

  • Collaboration with Systems team:

  • Ensuring the designers have the inputs needed to complete their analyses.

  • Program Tech Review attendance.

  • Feeding appropriate information back and forth between the Systems team and the turbomachinery design engineers.

  • Tracking turbomachinery efforts: inputs to the design engineers and meeting milestones:

  • Driving design milestones for Detailed Design Reviews (DDR).

  • Driving test assessments for the Turbomachinery.

  • Supporting testing as appropriate.

  • Presenting turbomachinery status and milestones to Systems / Customers.

  • Acting as Earned Valued Management Cost Account Manager (EVM CAM) for the Turbomachinery: collecting status, tracking spends, reporting to Systems and the customer.

  • Driving Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimates and proposal input as necessary for program planning/management.

  • Collaborating with Legacy program Systems team and model leader in order to drive consistency across the common features of the product.

  • Coordinating and leading engine testing for new engine technologies.

  • Working with instrumentation, testing, performance organizations to prepare and run engine tests.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Aeronautical Engineering (or a similar discipline focused on mechanical or aerothermal design) from an accredited college or university.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical, aerospace, systems, and/or test engineering positions, preferably in aerospace industry.

  • Due to the nature of the duties of this position, this role requires the individual to obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. citizenship.

Desired Characteristics

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Aeronautical Engineering related to turbomachinery design, testing, or systems engineering.

  • Experience in aviation propulsion system integration.

  • Engineering experience in GE Aviation turbomachinery systems integration or similar systems engineering role.

  • Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems.

  • Existing US Government Security Clearance

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

  • High level of computer proficiency.

  • Talented, highly motivated with good engineering judgment.

  • Effective in contributing in a structured, cross functional teamwork environment.
