Role Overview:

Lawyers and non-lawyers supporting the commercial side of the business including contract development, agreement management and government contracting. Perform contracts management functions across the spectrum of actions associated with providing products and services, from proposal, contract negotiation, and all phases of contract administration. Provide business advice and guidance to and coordinate with other functions including program management, sales, finance, legal, sourcing, engineering, and compliance. This role has potential for hybrid flexibility.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Non-legal contract experts primarily supporting all phases (proposal and post contract award execution) of projects including negotiations, managing commercial issues, customer relationships, claims and disputes.

  • Responsibilities cover the entire contracting lifecycle, from receipt of solicitation through contract close-out.

  • Act as primary interface between GE, Suppliers and customers on all contractual matters.

  • Provide contract administration for assigned proposals and contracts including regular interfacing with suppliers, sourcing team, customers, leading negotiations, and contract interpretation.

  • Perform proposal, negotiation, and contract administration functions on assigned proposals / contracts with minimal supervision.

  • Provide interface liaison with functional organizations and insure proper communication of contractual requirements.

  • Effectively interface with all functions of the business including Manufacturing, Sourcing, Program Management, Sales, Engineering, Finance, and Legal.

  • Provide advice and counsel to other functional areas on contracting topics, issues, and risk mitigation strategies.

  • If assigned to work US Government contract activity (either on a Prime or subcontract), the position requires solid proficiency in managing various contract types (including complex development) in both the Firm Fixed Price Contracts and the Cost Reimbursement Group, as described in the Federal Acquisition Regulations.

  • If assigned to work civil contracts the position requires solid proficiency in managing various types of civil contracts, with a solid understanding of commercial contract terms and conditions.

  • Develop alternate contract language to help sourcing team be more efficient and drive optionality

  • Partner with Sourcing Team on building framework of a good deal, ensuring contingencies exist as well as strategic negotiation initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or high school diploma/GED with at least 9 years of experience in government contract and/or civil contract formation and execution

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in government contract and/or civil contract formation and execution

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Solid domain expertise with commercial terms and conditions, Federal Acquisition Regulations, with emphasis in Parts 12 Acquisition of Commercial Items and 15 Contracting by Negotiation, and DoD FAR Supplement.

  • Demonstrated ability to take lead role in routine contracts

  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and cohesively with teams.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to manage projects/assignments within tight deadlines.

  • Strong collaboration with sourcing team, Buyers, Commercial, and Sourcing Leaders
