Queen's Health System Diag/Medical Sonographer-West (Call-In, Rotating) in Ewa Beach, Hawaii

RESPONSIBILITIES

I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepares and performs ultrasound examinations on patients. Collaborates with physicians on examinations.

II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Essential: walking, twisting body, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking; reaching above and at shoulder level; repetitive arm/hand motions; static gripping of an object for prolonged periods; frequent gripping of an object.

• Continuous: sitting, reaching below shoulder level.

• Frequent: standing, stooping/bending, pushing/pulling maximum weight of 50 pounds.

• Occasional: sitting, kneeling, climbing stairs, squatting, lifting and carrying weight of 10 pounds up to 20 pounds.

• Operates ultrasound equipment and computer.

III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.

• Must be able to adjust schedule for “on-call” coverage involving, but not limited to, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.

IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:

• Graduate of a CAAHEP (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs) approved school of Ultrasound Technology or other approved program as determined by the department; or registered Radiologic Technologist with two (2) years supervised work/training in diagnostic ultrasound.

• Registered by ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers) in Abdomen and OB/GYN sonography. If only registered in one (1) certification upon hire, must obtain the other certification within twenty-four (24) months of entrance into the position.

• Current BLS/HCP certification.

B. EXPERIENCE:

• Prior recent experience as a diagnostic medical sonographer in acute health care facility preferred.
