Interstate Waste Services, Inc. Dispatcher Supervisor in Ewing, New Jersey

The Dispatcher Supervisor will utilize our fleet management software and other operating applications to monitor volumes at each Transfer Station and progress of each Driver. The Lead Dispatcher will notify Drivers of their scheduled routes, and make real-time routing change as needed. The Lead Dispatcher must keep an open line of communication with each Transfer Station Manager as well as the Rail Fleet Manager. The Lead Dispatcher is also responsible for promoting and monitoring employee safety and take proactive steps to identify, evaluate and remove safety hazards.

The successful candidate must have experience managing both themselves and others. The Dispatcher Supervisor is a self-directed role, and will be responsible for establishing and documenting procedures for live dispatching.

Essential Job Functions: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

  • Establish and maintain a positive relationship with all Drivers as well as other colleagues as our depots and transfer stations.

  • Ensure Drivers and trucks are being utilized to their full potential.

  • Manage daily truck activity to ensure driver productivity is commensurate with hours worked.

  • Set up crew sheets and notify all employees of their schedules.

  • Continuously monitor hours worked and ensure DOT compliance for Drivers.

  • Continuously monitor Driver performance and provide coaching as well as discipline as necessary.

  • Ensure compliance with safety policies and protocols as well as federal, state and local regulations.

  • Perform routine inspections on the trucks and equipment to ensure proper care and routine maintenance.

  • Review Driver requests for container switches or repairs, and enter service tickets into the company database.

  • Ensure any and all accidents and injuries are thoroughly documented and distribute reports to the Safety and Risk teams for follow up.

  • Prepare and Deliver Regular Reports to Senior Management.

Requirements and Qualifications:

Required experiences & skills

  • 5+ years of Dispatching experience.

  • 1+ years of live dispatching

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.

  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety.

  • Knowledge of applicable traffic, transportation, and other laws and regulations.

  • Intermediate to excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Excel.

Preferred experiences & skills

  • Fluency in Spanish

  • Completion of relevant undergraduate degree or certificate program

  • Experience from the sanitation industry

  • Experience working with Routeware, Tower and/or Transman
