Position Overview:

We are looking for a dedicated and knowledgeable Postsecondary Success Coach to join our College Access & Success Program (CASP). The ideal candidate will be deeply committed to supporting students in their journey through higher education and career development. You will work closely with community college and trade school students, guiding them through the college application process, academic persistence, and career preparation.

Key Responsibilities:

Student Support and Retention:

  • Manage a caseload of 25-30 community college students, ensuring they persist through their college journey and meet academic success benchmarks.

  • Implement and monitor college retention strategies to support students' progress and degree completion.

  • Conduct weekly check-ins with students through in-person meetings, phone calls, and emails to track academic progress and provide necessary support.

  • Connect students with on-campus resources and activities to enhance their college experience.

    Program Coordination and Collaboration:

  • Maintain strong relationships with key offices such as Admissions, Financial Aid, Career Services, and Support Services to address student needs effectively.

  • Keep up-to-date with the City University of New York (CUNY) application process, college policies, FAFSA, and TAP.

  • Provide on-campus academic advising and accompany students to relevant services as needed.

  • Develop and implement student re-entry strategies for those returning to degree programs, in consultation with the Program Director.

    Administrative and Reporting Duties:

  • Use Google Docs forms to track students’ academic progress, identify risk factors, and document solutions and benchmarks.

  • Participate in monthly student progress meetings with the CASP Team and LTW Sites.

  • Create and facilitate special events for new, current, and alumni students, and administer soft skills self-assessment tools.

  • Support program branding and engagement through various social media platforms.

    Community Engagement and Outreach:

  • Facilitate college readiness workshops and informational sessions at LTW sites.

  • Attend college-related events (e.g., College Application Week, College Fairs, campus tours) to promote engagement and recruitment.

  • Assist students with financial aid and college enrollment as needed.

    Additional Duties:

  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related field preferred.

  • Minimum of two years’ experience working with young adults in a college setting, with a proven track record of success.

  • Extensive knowledge of college admissions, financial aid processes, and college opportunity programs.

  • Strong networking, communication, and negotiation skills.

  • Experience developing and facilitating group workshops and special events.

  • Demonstrated initiative, creativity, and strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Maturity, a sense of humor, a strong work ethic, and a proactive attitude.

  • Committed to student achievement and ethical conduct.
