We’re looking for an amazing Assistant Maintenance Manager professional to fill this role, which is based in our Fairbanks, AK office. You’ll be responsible for the oversight and technical operations of Westmark Fairbanks Hotel & Conference Center along with the year-round and seasonal maintenance team. This person will also develop and implement preventative and repair maintenance programs and provide recommendations for capital improvements.

Responsibilities:

  • Applies knowledge of equipment, systems and facilities maintenance; civil water and waste water infrastructure and water system compliance, carpentry; heating and A/C systems and grounds maintenance. Assist in preparation of the annual department budget. Lead and manage team within expectations and goals of department and hotel operations.

  • Partners with maintenance manager to manage daily and yearly hotel operations.

  • Manages and support LMMS system and safety training for FT and seasonal team

  • Applies knowledge of equipment, systems, and facilities maintenance to include carpentry; HVAC, mechanical and groundskeeping and provide guidance to the team.

  • Oversees maintenance tasks, including but not limited to, daily maintenance requests, HESS & SAY initiatives, and preventative maintenance programs.

  • Works with other departments to ensure equipment is functioning in a safe manner.

  • Provide regular training to team members in line with HAP guidelines.

  • Support budgetary and fiscal guidelines.

  • Participate in weekly Manager on Duty program.

  • On-call resource/respondent for emergencies.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • This job normally requires a professional level of knowledge in facilities maintenance management equivalent to that which would be acquired through the completion a Bachelor's degree. Journeyman, post-secondary technical certification preferred. Licensed in: carpentry, electrical, mechanical, plumbing or HVAC preferred. Demonstration of directly related work experience may be considered in lieu of the educational requirement.

  • This job normally requires a professional level of knowledge in facilities maintenance.

  • Four years of progressively responsible positions in hotel property or facilities maintenance.

  • Demonstrated supervisory experience in a business environment including leadership training.

  • You must have a current, valid AK driver’s license for operation of a motor vehicle with a clean driving record. A Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) of the last three years will be requested.

  • Prior experience working in a union environment a plus.

  • Must pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol test. You will become part of our randomized drug pool.

  • Must be able to lift in excess of 50pounds.

  • This role requires regular movement throughout PCL and HAL facilities, may need to stand for long periods of time.

  • Must be comfortable to work both indoors and outdoors with exposure to various weather conditions and/or operate machinery.

  • Must be able to work beyond normal business hours, including a different shift. Weekend hours may be required occasionally to support business needs, projects, and/or operations.

  • Proficiency in computer programs (Microsoft platforms).

  • Ability to clearly communicate, verbally and in writing, with all levels of employees, management, and guests.

  • Ability to prioritize work, support time constraints, meet deadlines, supervise/lead team, and handle guests requests/inquiries.

  • Demonstrate an ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Ability to support and comply with all company policies, procedures and guidelines including company health and safety standards.
