Job Summary

The Maintenance Training and Development Specialist is a dynamic position that develops, evaluates, and monitors training programs across the company to achieve long and short-range training goals established by the Senior Training and Development Manager. The Training and Development Specialist collaborates with subject matter experts to design and develop complex-level interactive courseware for training. The Training and Development Specialist will facilitate learning experiences in multiple delivery methods including eLearning, instructor-led training in both in-person and virtual environments. The Training and Development Specialist will have a strong educational background emphasizing aerospace training and extensive experience in managing training and development programs. The Training and Development Specialist will be knowledgeable of all training-related regulations and industry standards to plan, organize, and develop training and development programs for all employee groups within the company.

Essential Functions:

  1. Responsible for the continued development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of all Maintenance training programs to ensure alignment with the MITM.
  2. Develops dynamic online courses using the companys learning management system (LMS) to be responsive to employee and company needs.
  3. Optimizes internal knowledge sharing by consulting with subject matter experts to revise existing training modules by leveraging internal expertise to increase engagement and team productivity.
  4. Monitors analytics to evaluate the quality and effectiveness of the learning and development programs to maintain alignment with the companys needs, applicability to current practice, and an efficient use of time.
  5. Monitors regulatory requirements for employee training and competence to ensure that all requirements are met, tracked, and documented as required by FAA, PHMSA, DOT, OSHA, and company policy.
  6. Plans training courses and sessions while monitoring associated training costs.
  7. Coordinate, collaborate, and monitor training progress with all external vendors to meet the training needs of the maintenance personnel.
  8. Develops and conducts train-the trainer programs to prepare company instructors to facilitate learning experiences. Provide constructive feedback and comments captured on the post training surveys to all instructors.
  9. Monitors the specific training needs of the Maintenance team by working with the Director of Maintenance to develop Computer Based Training modules in the LMS through revisions and new content creation, coordinating and delivering on-site training, monitoring the progress and skill advancement of the mentees in the CTAMP program to recruit and retain a highly trained workforce.
  10. Conduct all onboarding and indoctrination of Maintenance team members in accordance with the MITM.
  11. Monitor the Maintenance Departments monthly employee currency reports to ensure employee training is current and compliant
  12. Coordinate the training needs for all Contract Maintenance mechanics by communicating the training requirements, currency, and username/passwords, for those mechanics on-call to provide airline partner support
  13. Required to represent the Maintenance Training Department through attendance and regular communication at the Maintenance meetings and monthly CAS meeting to identify and incorporate discrepancies into maintenance training sessions and modules.
  14. Incorporates additions or modifications to the Maintenance Department training modules in response to identified discrepancies (CAS, IEP, FAA, DOD) as necessary to ensure compliance.
  15. Procure, design, and administer training programs for mechanics, inspectors, and othe maintenance inspection personnel in accordance with all applicable FAR's, FAA and industry standards to optimize efficiency of in-field operations and minimize risks.
  16. Create technical documents, guides, illustrations, technical specifications, and reports that explain aviation processes, methodologies, and standards. Ensure these publications are clear, accurate, and easy to understand for both technical and non-technical users. Stay informed about aviation regulations and standards, such as those set by the FAA.

  1. Ability to reach horizontally and vertically with arms. Sufficient dexterity to manipulate small objects and print or write legibly.
  2. Sufficient physical ability, strength, mobility, and stamina to lift, carry, push, or pull objects which may frequently exceed 70 pounds in a series of functional tests which clearly simulate the work environment.
  3. Physical ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  4. Requires the ability to be sedentary for extended periods of time.
  5. Shall perceive the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral information, the manual dexterity to operate business related equipment, and handle and work with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience related to instructional design, adult learning theory, training techniques.

2+ years learning and development experience.

Ability to develop instruction for both instructor-led and online learning formats.

Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.

Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Effective time management and organizational skills.

Work independently as well as in a team environment.

Excellent computer skills and analytical abilities.

Experienced in learning management systems as well as providing online/virtual learning.

Advanced skills and knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint.
