The Global Peace Operations Initiative (GPOI) is a U.S. Department of State security assistance program focused on building international peacekeeping capacity worldwide in close collaboration with the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD). The GPOI program's mission is to strengthen the effectiveness of the United Nations (UN) and regional peace operations by enhancing partner countries' capacities to prepare, deploy, and sustain peacekeepers and reinforcing UN and regional organizations' performance and accountability frameworks. State's Bureau of Political Military Affairs, Office of Global Programs and Initiatives, Peace Operations Capacity Building Division (PM/GPI/POCB) serves as the GPOI Program Office.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Senior Specialty Trainer shall be the Team Lead's principal trainer for others conducting specialized contract training requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • The Senior Technical Trainer shall have a minimum of 10 years of technical experience which includes a relevant blend of military skills, experience, knowledge, and current certifications that will enable that individual to successfully train specific task performance objectives on this SOW.

  • Minimum of ten (10) years of U.S. or NATO military experience in a combat arms specialty [combat arms is defined as infantry, armor, cavalry, engineer, field artillery, infantry, or special operations forces].

  • Attainment of military grade of E-7 and higher.

  • Experience deployed to an overseas contingency operation since September 11, 2001.

  • Relevant military operations or foreign security force (police or military) capacity building experience in the last 5 years.

  • Experience as a senior trainer, military or civilian, to a foreign security partner with directly related experience in capacity building and unit level assessments.

  • (Preferred) Experience as an instructor in a tactics training unit (e.g., U.S. Army Ranger School or USMC Advanced Infantry Training Battalion, Jungle Operations) developing individual and collective skills intended to develop technical and tactical proficiency.

  • (Preferred) Experience working in Sub-Saharan Africa.
