ICF Sustainable Mobility Specialist (Dec 2024/May 2025 Grad, Bachelors, Hybrid) in Fairfax, Virginia

As our business expands and our client base grows, we are seeking a Sustainable Mobility Specialist with the skills and interest to conduct in-depth research, analysis, and strategic planning for projects aimed at reducing transportation-related emissions and promoting sustainable mobility solutions. You will work on initiatives for local organizations, State agencies, and Federal agencies. An interest or background in sustainable transportation and air quality is essential.

Your most important responsibilities will be to conduct research, perform qualitative and quantitative analysis, support the development of innovative tools and resources, present research and analyses internally and externally, and support business development activities. Topic areas will vary and may range from ridesharing, mobility on demand, microtransit, transit, shared mobility, electric vehicles, carbon reduction, etc. You may be required to travel for meetings and events

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform qualitative and quantitative analyses on a variety of sustainable mobility topics.

  • Work with a team to support client(s) initiatives and promote sustainable mobility options. Identify and meet the needs of clients within established guidelines.

  • Present research and analysis findings internally to ICF colleagues and externally to clients.

  • Prospect potential promotional opportunities and build relationships with new stakeholders.

  • Meet key deliverables through stakeholder engagement as needed, including employers, universities, colleges, municipalities, healthcare providers, and community-based organizations using a variety of contemporary and traditional tools.

  • Prepare correct and on-time activity reports on a weekly and monthly basis.

  • Provide partners and clients with technical assistance to deploy sustainable mobility programs.

The position requires experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Community Engagement experience with stakeholders and community-based organizations.

  • Transportation programs relating to carpooling, vanpooling, bicycling bikeshare, microtransit, electric vehicles, and autonomous vehicles.

  • Public relations or promotion of a product, organization, or service.

  • Hosting or supporting presentations, events, and meetings with clients or stakeholders.

  • Utilizing data, technological tools, training workshops, and innovative techniques to promote participation in programs.

  • Collaborate with a project team and client to achieve established goals.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A completed Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Planning, Business, Marketing, Communications, or related subject by the start date.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

  • A completed Master’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Planning, Business, Marketing, Communications, or related subject by the start date.

  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable using digital technology and possess a willingness to learn how to use new software and digital applications.

  • Experience with data analysis tools such as ArcGIS, Replica, or other mapping and spatial analysis software.

  • Excellent communication skills, including experience in writing technical reports and delivering presentations.

  • Outgoing and personable, comfortable speaking in groups or one-on-one settings.

  • Strong project management skills and the ability to work on multiple projects under strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrated interest or background in transportation and environmental issues.

  • Capable of organizing own schedule to balance time needed for prospecting, relationship-building, meetings, and events to achieve target goals.

  • Knowledge of transportation and environmental policy, particularly relating to emissions reduction, alternative fuels, and sustainable transportation planning.

  • Punctual to meetings and events.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and build relationships with stakeholders.

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:

$54,223.00 - $92,180.00
