Gama-1 Technologies Security Engineer II in Fairmont, West Virginia

Summary

GAMA-1 is seeking an experienced Security Engineer II to join our team of cybersecurity professionals!  In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and implementing the organization's information security program working on-site daily at the customer facility. This role involves ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information systems, protecting sensitive data from unauthorized access and cyber threats, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

About the Role

In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) compliance which includes but is not limited to related tasks: continuous monitoring, development of Authorization and Accreditation (A&A) artifacts, FIPS 199 security categorization, FIPS 200 minimum security controls, FISMA self-assessment, System Security Plans (SSP) development, contingency planning, Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M), and Risk Assessment Reports (RAR). This position has significant responsibility for the quality of all deliverables: prepares and performs final reviews on selected, critical written communications documents, and regularly makes presentations on program progress.

Essential functions/responsibilities

  • This position will be responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Federal client’s information security policies, standards, and procedures as they pertain to the Federal Information System Modernization Act, NIST standards and Agency policies and guidelines.

  • Conduct regular risk assessments and identify vulnerabilities, recommend mitigations and communicate and track to resolution.

  • Oversee the security architecture of systems and networks to ensure robust protection against threats.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and standards (e.g., NIST, FISMA).

  • Develop and implement incident response plans, ensuring timely reporting and response to security incidents.

  • Lead post-incident investigations, analyzing root causes and recommending improvements to prevent recurrence.

  • Maintain a detailed incident log and prepare reports for senior management.

  • Stay updated on current security trends, threats, and best practices to continuously improve the organization’s security posture.

  • Work with information system owners, system administrators, cybersecurity risk managers, and authorizing officials to discover and mitigate their risks

    Requirements

  •   DoD 8570 compliant Information Assurance Management Level I or higher Certification

Work environment

This is an on-site position located in Fairmont, WV.

Physical demands

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

  • Frequent use of a keyboard, laptop and mouse

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for working with customers, collaborating with team members

    Required education and experience

  • 5+ years of experience working with information technology (IT) or within the cybersecurity field

  • Experience implementing or assessing security controls within an information system

  • Knowledge of the risk management framework and NIST 800-53

  • Ability to effectively monitor progress of remediation

  • Ability to work with information systems owners, risk managers, and security professionals to ensure the implementation, identification, and tracking of security control implementation within an information system

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.

  • TS/SCI clearance

    Preferred education and experience

  • Advanced degrees and certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CISA) are highly desirable.

    Work authorization/security clearance requirements

Ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance is required.

The base salary range for this position is: $120,852.43 - $170,358.24

This base salary range represents a general guideline. An individual’s base salary within that range is determined based on a variety of factors, including (without limitation) the scope, complexities, and responsibilities of the position, the government contract to which the position is assigned, geographic location, market conditions, and the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and skills.
