This is a hybrid role, with time spent between working on-site in Fairport, NY and remotely. We are looking for a candidate within a commutable distance to the greater Rochester, NY area.

Job Description

The Project Manager reports directly to our engineering leader responsible for our intrusion software ecosystem. The ideal candidate is an experienced and pragmatic practitioner who’s developed best practices for executing software projects and has a keen understanding of the product development lifecycle.

The project manager role is a key driver in the success of our portfolio of software products and an active participant in the product development process. The ideal candidate will partner across the organization with management, engineering, product management, and marketing through all phases of the development life cycle to ensure project success. Must have experience as an excellent communicator with proven ability to balance technical, managerial, and business concepts. We’re looking for someone that is comfortable leading and inspiring with a personal sense of ownership to achieve project deliverables that are aligned with customer requirements while managing to cost, scope, and schedule objectives agreed upon at the beginning of the project.

This role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely. We are looking at candidates within commutable distance to the greater Rochester, NY area.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Demonstrated skills in managing priorities and making complex technical and business tradeoffs.

  • Intimately familiar with project management concepts (schedule/cost/quality tradeoffs, schedule, and resource planning, etc.).

  • Expert knowledge of software engineering management, both tools and process (project tracking/scheduling; bills of materials; document management; issue/bug tracking; configuration management; integration/release testing; etc.).

  • Solid understanding of structured product development (requirements-driven engineering, requirements documentation, rigorous verification)

  • Comfortable with a range of project management methodologies (sequential/waterfall, Scrum, Agile, etc.).

  • Ability to track the financials of the project with such things as forecasting, accruals, and actuals.

  • Tracks and monitors project progress to achieve project management stage deliverables and project milestones.

  • Establish a communication cadence to provide monthly forecasts and progress updates to project stakeholders.

  • Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules, design stage reviews and prepares status reports.

  • Monitors the project from initiation through delivery.

  • Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.

  • Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and risk management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in CS, CE, EE, ME, or similar technical discipline.

  • 5-7+ years’ experience managing cross-functional projects.

  • Knowledge of product development lifecycle (from requirements gathering through verification and validation activities).

  • Knowledge of development tracking tools (JIRA preferred).

  • Ability to demonstrate technical problem-solving skills / attention to detail.

  • Ability to work with team members of other disciplines or departments.

  • Proven ability to implement improvement measures.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project Management, Engineering, or Technical Service experience.

  • Agile/Scrum knowledge and understanding.

  • Experience with Microsoft suite of tools (Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint etc.).

  • Experience leading diverse and complex projects and programs

  • Experience with JIRA.

  • Ability to solve highly complex problems across multiple business functions.

The U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $115,000 to $140,000. Within the range, individual pay is determined based on several factors, including, but not limited to, work experience and job knowledge, complexity of the role, job location, etc.
