Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.

This position requires access to information which is subject to stringent controls under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, person granted asylee status in the U.S., or person admitted into the U.S. as a refugee.

  • Accountable to product engineers and peer technicians for assigned technical product tasks.

  • Participate in research and development activities, plan and conduct experiments; build sample test equipment; plan and coordinate evaluation testing; monitor results as assigned by engineering.

  • Assist engineers in the design, development and introduction of new product testing procedures.

  • Design, establish, and analyze testing related experiments in support of engineering operations.

  • Actively participate in COPQ problem solving and/or product improvements

  • Secure TEBIT project evaluations and own solutions

  • Prepare engineering reports.

  • Support the Product Engineering Department in the day-to-day Sustaining Engineering activities.

  • Special Projects, including unique product designs, prototype product testing and related fixturing

What your background should look like:

  • Fundamental Electrical, Electro-Mechanical Comprehension

  • Electrical test experience preferred

  • Troubleshooting skills/experience and electrical relay performance knowledge

  • Minimum 2-year technical degree preferred -or- equivalent hands-on relay specific product experience

  • Self-starter and willing to take ownership of complex product challenges

  • Computer skills including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

  • 3D Modeling, ANSYS Simulation and MiniTab skills not required but advantageous

  • Ability to Read, Interpret, & Comprehend instructions and Designs (Internal & Customer Prints)

  • Electromechanical relay knowledge/experience preferred

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong work ethic and ability to work with minimum supervision is a must

  • Consistent work history and solid attendance

  • Team player, ability to work with an experienced staff

COMPENSATION

• Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $57,440 – $86,160 (subject to change dependent on physical location)

• Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.

• Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
